  1. Hello everyone to my corner. 😎 In this topic I will be showing the progress in creating my maps. Feel free to ask, suggest something, and maybe it will be useful to me. The current production focuses on creating a map of Warsaw.

  4. 🤔 @Snuffs99 remember? @Sphalman the timing is Similar with your last big win 10 update from Oct2020, and i believe it also came with a win 10 update at me. somehow i believe they came out with the oct. update to find all the "activated" versions...(smiling and remembering the windows xp service pack 2😏) anyway so i installed the free version of win 10 downloadable from microsoft. maybee you can try this sort of Installation: https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows10ISO this helped me and it matches with your sayings of the oct. update... and as far as i know, @Smultronstallet had the exact same problem after Oct. update, and also solved it with the iso usb stick from microsoft. Ps. good luck

  5. Let's set up a date and a time to play people. We need to get at least 8 people to play, tho ideally would be 10 (which is also max) We can play mod with proximity chat in which we can talk in-game, or otherwise we'll meet up on discord voice channel and go from there. It's super fun game and I'd love to play again something with u guys. How's this Thursday 14th for you guys? @Dest!Ny @Heat @Sonofdoc @Scarface@

  6. We're taking a different approach. At the moment, we are designing the map layout on paper first in 2D. Then we will model the layout in 3D. Once we're happy with the design then we can start using Gtk Radiant for the actual map. The problem is a lot of the ET maps are just badly designed and just look good visually. There is a reason why maps like Bremen, Special Delivery, Adler are popular. Their layout is well designed. So if you're recreating a real location from Warsaw, make sure you don't just copy it. Change it up so that the layout would be better suited for ET gameplay. Don't make the map too large, those large maps tend to be garbage because there's too much empty space and not enough density.

  7. DO you run 2 monitors?? When I built my current desktop, I had this exact problem. It drove me crazy, then I just unplugged one monitor and Boom! There it was. Once I finished setting things up, I re-added the 2nd monitor and all has been good

  8. Didn't read this whole topic, but I have pretty much similar pc than you have and I used to run vista too and also used to have cpu overloading. I have core2duo E8500 and had to install very old radeon HD 4850, as "newer" radeon gpu overheated too fast and couldn't save it anymore. And I have 8gb ram, but it's ddr2 😄 For me solution was the restore points removal and removal the saving of those restore points. Those took up the space unnecessary, leaving just less than 10gb for vista partition. Didn't help either even if I changed the restore point saving location, it still filled my C drive. So try that. Also win10 costed me under 20€, now this old toaster runs just fine. Doesn't need overclocking either, that'll only increase heat and noise and doesn't do any improvement because of the weak parts.

  12. There can be many problems and also answers. This is electronics and may be acting weird. What you described more shows the reasons for the drivers or the specificity of the graphics card or its damage. You'll always have a black screen for a while when installing the drivers. The installer himself will warn you about such phenomena. 🧐 Regardless of which PCIExpress you put your graphics card into, bios should see it. If you have inserted a gravity card into the PCIE, the built-in will not provide a signal. DDR3 and DDR4 motherboards are newer hardware, hence - performance and compatibility. Rather, it will be useless to pull everything out and insert it in turn. It was necessary to exercise on DDR2. The fault of the power supply, I doubt. The graphics card will use as much power as it wants at the moment. You would have to put a lot of strain on the power supply, but this would lead to some risk. Move the graphics slightly in the slot, it may be that the pins are not fully touching. Pull it out and insert it, or clean the socket of dust. Put it in a different slot. Check the plug powering the graphics card. Install older drivers. Turn on the testing program (benchmark, OCCT, 3Dmark). If you had a second motherboard, you could test this graphics card on it. If the same problem occurs or the fault may lie with the graphics card - possible damage. I have a GTX 660 from 2012, the latest drivers for Win 10 Pro and everything works fine. Even with two monitors. And here's a little case. 🤔 Before installing the graphics card drivers - Bios shows up on the first monitor (on HDMI), the installer and the system too. I had a black screen after installing the drivers. A moment of surprise and only the system shows up. 🤨 It turned out that I had the second monitor turned off and only the bios turned on on the second monitor (on DVI-I). I had such a phenomenon on the ASUS P5Q motherboard and still have it on the GIGABYTE Z270 GAMING K3. The specificity of the graphics card. 😌 I only take Gibabyte for one simple reason - They offer more for the same price. More memory supports that are on the market. On some boards you have one BIOS version that supports all CPUs. You have more maneuverability in the CPU list. More sockets such as USB or SATA that I will not use anyway. 😎 If you have a good chipset, these boards do not limit you mainly. You can even tweak whatever you want if you can. Windows 10 supports older graphics cards, but not too old.

  21. Thx for advice, well right now i got: Asus P5KC mobo, 2x2GB DDR3 RAM 1333 MHz (cpu-z shows dram freq 666,7 MHz, fk me if i know what that means) Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz (please help me here coz CPU-Z often shows its running 2000 MHz - i think its downclocking (?) because not so much Hz needed at the moment but i wanted to switch it off so it stays 2.66 all the time but it seems impossible on Vista, i have all switched to performance) Nvidia 9600GT 512MB 256bit win Vista 64bit 400W source

  35. Windows is unlikely to care about the drivers for the integrated gfx but worth a try at this point, could just boot to safe mode as that wont load any drivers. Its not unheard of for peeps to use the wrong slot and your Mobo is SLi/crossfire capable so make sure your using the PCIe slot nearest the CPU @Sphalman Given this is the second Gfx card you've had issues with its looking more mobo related. Back to basics first, strip the mobo of everything bar the CPU (obviously keep heat sink and fan etc) your main OS drive and memory (if you have 2 or more sticks use 1 to start).....Use the onboard gfx and see if your able to boot to windows then go from there and slowly add devices, so any extra memory, hard drives etc and see if you can boot till finally the Gfx card and see how far you get. If your able to try the parts in another PC that would obviously help knowing that the gfx card(s) are still working etc. but that is just a "nice to have/know" at this point.
