Snake in the Grass Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Context On first stage, the allies on attack needs to rush the tank and repair it, which secures the spawn change. There are one main route, through 2 big gates, ajar, and a second route, through the tank barrier and coming from behind. There is an extra 3rd route, initially closed, the so-called "Secret Passage" with one switch inside, to give direct access to the tank to repair; As it is a good additional route for allies, strategically speaking it should never be opened by axis, it is counter productive for them. However, for some reasons, the map allows Axis to open it. Admins are now tempted to tweak the map for Jay1 rotation, to cancel out the issue of Axis opening it. Any player who knows the map and has an opinion on the topic is welcome to vote, i.e. other ET servers players welcome ofc. 3 1 Quote

Strategically speaking, it is often thanks to this passage that allies can progress towards repairing the tank, which they would not be able to do otherwise. In jay1, respawn times and travel times (thanks to double jump) being greatly reduced, the way to the tank is nearly impossible without this third pathway when the game has over something like 12v12+ players. Take goldrush for instance (which this map shares a lot of similarities with): the tank courtyard has a main entrance through the big door, a back way and a side path. All of those are wide open and it gives interesting defensive and offensive options. I see your vote as a false choice, personally I wouldn't change the way it currently is! The passage is closed 90% of the time and the 10% time it is open an axis player is the one who pressed it. Allies have almost a 0% chance of reaching that button. The bots are always fooled by undercover covies, but the humans much less so. It is worth the effort and a "big rush" when one can do it. Blunt Posted May 4 Posted May 4 As much as I dislike Axis opening the secret door as it can't ever be closed again, to me it is part of the map and a goal for a covie to accomplish. I would be more a fan of adding a sign warning once open door cannot be closed. 4 Quote

If after 10 (or 12) minutes allies have not repaired the tank, then the back door automatically opens, providing additional help for allies. And I would add that if possible, it would be nice to remove the capacity for Axis to press the button, only Allies should be able to press it. 5 1 Quote
mraw435 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I tend to agree with many of the comments provided already -- if it was a different map then I would be more outspoken with the button being pressed and giving advantage to the opposing team. Teuthonia is already a difficult map for allies (i think allies win it even less than gold rush!) and an axis player either intentionally or unintentionally opening the side passage gives the allies a usually necessary 3rd route to get the tank and move past a significant bottle neck 5 1 Quote

Johnwick Posted May 5 Posted May 5 On full serv there is prolly 1 axis player who dont know what does that button do,so they open it . Or someone will tell ,that youl get cookie or free xp for it . Been rushing and jumping there as allied covie , it will take some time but i can do it 3 Quote
