I've never used anything other than 2.60b (I'm not so oldschool) so I guess the answer is yes

anyway 2.55 and 2.60b differ only for a few details

lots of players play on win7+2.60b so you can have no problem

Try this: Right mouse click on ET then start it via Adminstrator...

yep, works for me (Windows7 home premium 64bit) just run as Admin

Runs for me as well :). Have to give a green light as an Administrator every time I start up the game though, but that's not bugging me.

I think you can turn off UAC in Win7 but as its my main security besides trigger release on LMB thumb I´ve not tried it out.

And yes you can run 2.6b on Win7 x64. Remember that ET and ET 2.60 have to be installed. But 2.6b just copy-pasted.

Make sure You install 2.60 before 2.60b or you will be missing pak files

I run ET on win 7 and win 8 (upgraded to 8.1).   I have to run it with admin privileges.

No, 2.60b only works on win95/98. ET doesnt work on for example winxp, its way too new operating system, ET's working kit hasnt been coded into it. Also you need to use CRT monitor or else ET will make you lag. Ball mouse will increase your accurasy because there are no other hz frequenzies interrupting your move -commands from mouse, its solid smooth 200hz.
