Server Issue lags and fps drops


Question

sorry if not the right place but lately playing on beginners 2 im having a lot lags and fps drops im using an intel core i-5 9400f cpu @2.90ghz  16gb ram windows 10 home x64 edition nvidia g-force gtx 1660

I used to have lag spikes when playing on full screen, but they seem to have been solved when @K3rmit gave me a new config file. He should be able to help you.

Is it map related issue? Seems your cfg are fine, can u take ss of your lagometer next time when having lag? Have you updated windows lately? if yes update your gpu drivers too.

Make sure threaded optimization is turned off in your nVidia control panel. :)

Just pretend that it's for et.exe rather than xplane :P

Do you have those problems in other games, too, or is it restricted solely to Enemy Territory? Do you experience 'hiccups' with audio or video playback, too?

 

You can download the program LatencyMon and analyse your system for processes that might make your system 'stutter'. You can download the program here: https://www.heise.de/download/product/latencymon?hg=1&hgi=0&hgf=false

 

It's a German website, just click on the green button on the right saying "Download".

 

Install the program, open it, start the analysing process, play ET for 10 minutes and then post a screenshot of the results here.

 

To rule out connection issues on your side, I would recommend pinging a bunch of different websites like google.de or 8.8.8.8 (google's DNS) for ten minutes and look for dropped packets and/or excessive jitter and ping spikes. You can do this either through the command line in windows or with programs like Pingplotter. The latter you can download here: https://www.heise.de/download/product/ping-plotter-953


If you want to do it through the command line, press the Windows key, type in cmd, press Enter. Then type in: ping 8.8.8.8 -n 600    and      ping google.com -n 600

 

You will then ping 8.8.8.8 and one of google's other servers 600 times, once each second. Again, post the results here.

This is good advice. I'd suggest ruling out driver issues first, as LatencyMon can easily show "false positives" from mouse drivers (especially those that have 1000Hz rates), graphics drivers (due to bad configs, or as I posted, "multi-threaded optimizations", etc)

Let's start with FPS issues. FPS issues will show "Connection Interrupted", when in fact there are no connection issues. Plus, connection issues will not cause FPS drops, whereas FPS drops will show connection issues due to the game engine.

I see you have some double cvars there with r settings and those might mismatch.

 

I removed the r_settings, so try this cfg if it works better, exec it by typing /exec oli.cfg

 

If it wont help, you can always use your old cfg

Hmm... well I had a quick glace at your config, and noticed some duplicate cvars that could be contributing to your problem, I'd try using Rendel's version of your config and see if it helps.

If it does not, could you answer a few quick questions:
-When did this start happening?
-Do you have this issue on all of the servers you play on? (Try joining another =F|A= server, such as Beginners #1 which runs on a different mod, if you only play on our Beginners #2)
-Could temporarily enable your lagometer and take some screenshots and upload them here? (The cvar is cg_lagometer 1 to enable it) I'm not expecting to see anything that is of much info, but it could prevent us from looking at any "red herrings".

Just to keep you updated on my train of thought: as of right now, I'm suspecting an overheating issue or failing HDD (if applicable)

hunk megs zonemegs and sound megs wont change if u just have em set to ur cfg.

 

has to be written into your  target field...

 

u also have stuff like:

seta r_roundImagesDown   0

 seta r_roundImagesDown   1

seta r_subdivisions   1

seta r_subdivisions   20

seta r_lobdias    0  <-----------------not spelt right!!!!!!

seta r_lodbias    -999

 

id go in  try clean up that messy cfg.

try in the new cfg that kendel give on your other servers and seems to be fine only on beg 2 that a have this problem ths anyway for all the help
