They said no to custom maps like 100 times lol

As far as the reasoning that I can recall... Not popular enough/Too Hard to maintain/People won't want to keep downloading (which is f***ing odd because ET makes you download a shit ton of extra pk files)/Something else.

thats not necessary  true our server dont make you dl allot of shit other then the maps it depends how the server owners set them up

if they got custom sound packs and all kind of different mods running ya sure gonna take awhile :) but dd keeps our fairly simple

okay i am just trying to find ways to mix things up. Beginners is doing fairly well and Abner i am not going down that road. (not being a wenis) I just love the COD series and would just love to see another game added. I would love to have a UO server more than anything. That would be awesome.

well i turned the promod server into a mod server for a month....but no one played on it so i changed it back to promod sd so we could get some traffic on it.

That's the problem with promod etc, they default server list dosent list them, so without advertising traffic will remain sparse. As for looking for a new game to play and populate, don't forget about BF BC 2

Even UO will remain empty after 2 weeks.

Members - Yeye we want TF2 server. Good for 2 weeks then empty.

Members - Yeye L4d2 server... good for 2 weeks then empty

Same story for Minecraft, CS:GO, etc. Same happened to our COD:BO, BFBC2, etc servers in past. Repeat and revision :)

Problem? No one likes to camp server or do advertising. Everyone wants ready popular server.

Yep, this is another aspect that would need to be looked at.

When only a couple members want a specific game or server, they tend not to last long unless people give up most of their time and camp it until it becomes popular. That's why I never understood why we have so many servers. A lot of them are pretty empty. Be easier to close 'em down and save some cash.

Older games are the hardest to populate. Eithee because 1: Too few people playing or 2: There are already popular, well established servers. No one wants to play new servers when they have a 'home' server.

Newer games would be ideal, but most new games now have been taking away the ability to host private servers. COD, Battlefield, Titanfall etc. WWould be awesome and popular, but again, it's all dedicated servers. Pretty much screws everyone over, including the players.

Left 4 Dead 2 was a good chance to try something new, but the longevity it hit or miss. Hopefully dayz might be a new avenue, but again, it's up in the air.

Starting new servers is slow going, and not always as great as it could be.

Ok, so it's not my intention to muddy the water, but... I thought that Pepsi & TC had been talking about a server with stuff like high jump, etc.  I looked around the server list yesterday and popped in on a couple of the TDM high jump servers and they were PACKED.  What if we re-purposed the Softcore server for something like this?  It's a completely different strategy but with very familiar game play.  Something different from the raging, slaughter fests that Beginners can be from time to time (and I do love those).  It also seems that these types of settings have done well when we've used them during our F|A Game Weekends.

Clearly, this suggestion doesn't address TC's desire to play another COD game on an F|A server.  But maybe playing the same COD4 in a completely different way would answer TC's request and help the struggling Softcore server.

If any of this is dumb, remember that I'm a uber-noob.

Personally... I propose a challenge. If you (Plural) can successfully camp a dead server until it has a regular 20 player population each night (GMT), doesn't matter if it's Killbox or Abner, then I will happily back any proposal to start a new server, so long as the guys that camped the server propose it. I'm not going to support creating, and running/camping, a new server until we can prove that we're capable of reviving a dead one.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that 20 is a really small number considering Beginners gets easily 30-40 players every night.
