Upgraded video card - Now ET performance sucks

Hard to believe, but I upgraded to a better gaming card for another game I want to play, and now ET performance sucks.

Old Card: nvidia Ge Force GTX 260

New Card: XFX Radeon RX 580

Previously, gameplay was incredibly smooth, always maxed out FPS regardless of the environment, etc. Had no issues at all. Now, with the new card, in any sort of action environment, I'm dropping to like 10 or less FPS. I don't understand what's going on here. I've checked/disabled a lot of the settings in the Radeon app, even turned off the ET profile it set up on its own, and nothing I do seems to make anything better. Anyone have any ideas? I find it hard to believe that a card this powerful can struggle with an old game like ET but not struggle with a newer, more powerful game. I have to believe it is something with the settings of either the card or the game, but I don't know what to do since everything I tried is not making a difference. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Finally, here are the Radeon settings, which I have a feeling are mostly the culprit.

Maxpackets 50? There's a formula for calculating perfect maxpackets but for now, try maxpackets 100 as a simple check to see if that's causing you issues.

Also I don't see any com_ settings in your config?  May be you need to increase your com_hunkmegs etc?

This cfg is at least a decade old. I'm not smart enough to know perfect settings anymore :). Ill try the maxpackets increase. I have no idea what those other settings are you mentioned!

ET will not use more then 256 Hunks. Have u seen map where u will use more then 256 hunk megs? Please provide stats. I just don't want people to use 512Mb hunk meg when they have just 4GB or 8GB RAM on their machine.

It would cause reverse effect i.e. lag when they have 4GB ram and are using 512Mb hunk. Thanks

Please check your openGL drivers. OpenGL drivers play big role in FPS for ET.

Stop giving him half of the settings which are completely off for his setup, its like u dont even read what he usees and just throw bunch of cmds here without reading what u are copying here.

@Beeshbum get the maxpackets up to 100 and check what your /rate is first, what is your displayrefresh or how much is your LCD supporting? I would say stick to 125FPS, unless u are running a 144hz screen, then equal it with that.

For what each cvar does, read here https://antman.info/wolf/cvar/#.VTapx5Ml0jN.

Should give u the basic input into each cvar and what it does.

I sometimes use 1024 hunkmegs and I have only 4gb of ram ddr2 very old, but I shoot very well and I have no lag, the important thing is to have the free ram, of course you use 3 gb for all open programs, then I can give you reason

I give an example:
currently without Enemy Territory open my ram available on 4gb, (it is 3 GB, so if I use com_hunkmegs 512 or 1024 I have no lag

I write what I want, this is a discussion forum, moreover my ET runs like a Swiss watch, many people use my cfg, I have been producing for 15 years, nobody has ever complained, I do not allow you to let me do this fool, the commands that I put work well, I do not write to just breath the mouth as many of you do,

and with this close, from now on I will not write more on this forum, my help is not welcome, there are too many experts here, good fun rude

Bumped maxpackets to 100. Didn't notice much of a difference and FPS stayed the same, around a constant 60. On the old nvidia card I was constantly around 166 or something like that. Not sure exactly what display refresh is or where to find it, but I have just basic acer monitors. Probably a 60hz refresh if that's the same thing? Anything I can try next after the maxpackets? Not sure what other config items posted here are relevant to my exact setup. Thanks!

Some off topic for @Lenovo:

Please read that carefully, because that's what we all are trying to explain to you:

The fact that your config works perfectly on your computer doesn't mean that it will work as well on ALL computers in the world.

I'm not gonna refer to this specific topic but I've seen lots of your posts with solutions that just would not help at all. Understanding this single sentence would be a great step forward.

And please keep in mind we are not experts, I don't believe anyone can know everything about ET and stuff. We are all trying to help and I really appreciate you do as well, but you have to learn that your posts (and everyone's else) are just a suggestion for the person asking for help. I doesn't matter who's trying to help - me, you, Aniky or Daredevil etc. - anyone can make a mistake, and it's ALWAYS desireable when there more people posting different solutions for resolving an issue.

If you don't agree with anything posted by someone else - never hesitate to say that, discussion is always welcome. And if someone disagrees with your solutions please don't feel offended and try not to send posts like the above because that serves nothing. Just start a normal discussion, try to explain why your solution would be useful in that specific case and when you think something is not right with yours or someone's post - do some research, learn something new and share it with other people.

It would come down more to the ati settings, u can check at your gpu control panel how much display refresh rate u have. Check a bit on the forums and Google for which settings to keep for ati and which ones to turn off.
