Hey guys!
I came up with the not finished idea of the following:
What if sb, that has the time and the willingness, try this method to deal with the "problem" that particular maps are being played all over again after 3-5 maps.
My suggestion is to lock *if its possible* the maps that were played, lets say, 0-25 maps ago so that players will choose maps that were played 1000 maps ago e.g. And on those locked maps to appear the banner "You've played that recently, choose another one :P ".
The idea is still not finished in my head, but i was in a hury to write it down before I forget it :D
I am not sure whether you got what i meant. If you have any question feel free to ask, I will try to answer them.

7 maps is good time to wait to get the already played map again in the rotation, most of the people/players like to play some maps during the time they have to play, not seen their map would make them not return..

Yeah, it's already at 7 maps before it comes back. I think it's enough.

 

If I had 2 hours to play and HAD to play only maps I don't like because my favorites have been played 12 maps ago...I wouldn't like it. and would probably end up /quit.

 

I know it's fun to play different maps but forcing it too hard on people would be too much. i think.

Agree with Phantom, its getting annoying count a rotation of like 40 maps on silent on wich mostly of times we are using only 10 or 15 mostly of times play, example: delivery then supplydepot then baserace then braundorf then oasis then venice  then again delivery and goes like that,would be great have that block and can use mostly of map than they are on the rotation......

Yesterday on HC, i voted for the new map and then one that we didnt play since months. Beleive it or not .... 2 maps later we played both in a row.

So as admins vote for those maps rarely played .... you never know.

seing that the "lock" is at 6(?) if im not mistaken, increasing it to 10 would allow more diversity and the possibility to play 2/3 of the maplist and not only 1/3, like : Deli, Goldrush, Baserace, Battery, Oasis, Supply Depot, Braundorf. These are the 7 maps that are being played constantly . These maps are good and popular yes, but you can't disagree with me that when these map are voted on every 6 or 7th map it is getting boring and overplayed. 

 

Seing before that it was mention if you only got 2 hours to play, most maps last 14-20 minutes, 7 maps times 20 minutes equals 140 min, that is 2hrs 20 min. That will result in 7 maps bneing played between 1hr 50min to 2hrs 20min , thinking of Allies/Axis winning before maps end. 

 

Is it really that important in those 2 hours you get to play all 7 maps? Seing that the next time you log on, those 7 maps will probably be played again in the next 6 maps(1hr 45min). 

 

Increase the map "lock" to 10 maps, those 7 maps would probably still be played, but it would ADD 3 NEW MAPS to also be played in the rotation which would make the gameplay more adventurous, I'm using adventurous since it is very predictable atm which map will be voted on and with 3 new maps to be able to choose from because of the increased map lock people will start voting for different maps too, and it might be that those 7 maps will always be played, but the next 3 maps might vary becuase of the popularity and preference of the people.

Silent - is the main server I haunt...hang around/hunt em on..
I guess I haven't noticed any issues w/ the map rotations locking or playing the  same maps over and over.

My suggestion if it isn't broke don't try to fix it..   In past clans we would jack around with trying to get the best maps and the best rotations and all that..
Then we would get everything perfect and everyone was happy.. then bam... the server would crash..  cause.. too many maps in rotation.. and a 100 other issues, using coming back to messing w/ the maps in the rotation.   But at the time we had 4 guys all trying to fix everything and that caused problems as well.

 

I would say if the players aren't complaining.. then roll w/ it.
If everyone is griping.. then tell em to come to the forums and vote for what maps they want in the rotation.

I'm actually surprised your vote able maps work..  so that's good..in and of itself.. run w/ it...

bear with me.. i've been sick the past couple days and the above may make no logical sense whatsoever...

Yeah it makes sense indeed Scarecrow. But what have been very common on Silent1 is that it is around only 10 maps in the maplist being voted for, 6 of them is being voted on everytime it is possible to vote for them.Now and then we are lucky and we get to play a different map, but that is rare (therefore 10 different maps, and not 6) People have already started complaining about playing the same map over and over again. 

 

I see and understand your point, and this is has nothing to do with adding maps, it is to increase the amount of time a map is outside of the rotation to prevent repetition. If we ever have to add a map Daredevil would remove another less popular map so we don't go over and crash the server. 

 

I'm sure this is not going to be implemented very soon, so if you stay around Silent1 for some while, I'm sure you will notice how often it occurs =)

I don't know how we'd "lock" maps, but perhaps we could have recently played maps removed from the map pool voting list, just like how we can't play the same map we just played 3x in a row.

No matter what we do. There's always someone who will complain: delivery again either: this map sucks .... Frequently, some spamming to select a different map than the few that are chosen from among all supported on the server ...

At the end, the map that gets most votes gets to be played, common logic, so going with that, whatever regulars like to play most, they will vote for that, even tho they have to wait sometimes a bit longer for their map to be selected, but hey, i have played in this entire time ice probably only two times and its one of my favorites. It will always come down to what regulars like to play most and i assume thats the important thing that we should care for, since afterall, happy regulars intend to keep playing on that server :)

 

Like MyAss said above, there will always be someone who wont like the next map that was selected, let it be battery, delivery, supply and so on, not everyone has the same taste for map, thats why there is a voting sistem, so it doesn't depend on only one person, but winning map gets to be picked within most votes of players.
