Insurgency Tutorial A Guide For New Insurgency Players.
Pabbatt Blue posted a topic in Insurgency Discussion
This guide will be an attempt to helping The F A community get more familiar with the game if they wish to play it coming from different games! If anyone has anything to add to this guide feel free to pm me and I will add anything too it! All of the following is my opinion from the game. So to start off here Insurgency is different then most typical shooters you see, the enemy's you face are cruel, very, oh so cruel, whether it's you hearing RPG! (BTW Duck. Run. Bob. Weave. Hope. You. Survive. Profit?) Getting knifed in the back from an unsuspected enemy, or the way they take different angles to find you; that is just touching on that subject btw. That being said teamwork is essential and a must. Communication in this game is great to have but it doesn't always have to be through a mic. Here you will find some great tips... -Press and hold C to bring up your commands without using a mic! This helps to give friendly's a good idea where the enemy is, which objective you are moving too etc... as a leader or (specialist) This is a MUST even if you use your mic. As the servers we have say beginners we attract a load of them and helping them figure out the game is key. Most of them don't chat vocally and with the leaders commands it opens up a whole new set of them. Such as flank right, flank left, defend this objective, and a whole lot more. To give new players a sense of direction coming from a leader in this game really helps them adjust and enjoy there gameplay experience while immersing them with having fun. - Use Q or E on your key board to lean around corners. It can be repetitive but it will save you a lot from dying. - While running (Hold shift. This can be put on toggle or hold, same as aiming in) press ctrl and you will slide. Anytime you find yourself making a last ditch effort to avoid enemy fire and your almost in cover, just use this quick tip and you will get out of it 9/10 times if used correctly. - Do not stick together after capturing, Stay in groups but try by all means to separate. Once you capture (Usually) in any game mode the enemy respawns somewhere. There squad leaders carry rpg's and they are not afraid to use them. If you're firing out of a window avoid staying there for too long. - Attachments can make or break you as a player depending on your class. Find what your comfortable with using and excel. Now it's different for everyone with what your favorite gun is or class etc, But ALWAYS if you can manage to spend your points use AP Ammo. If you play the game long enough you will notice AP Ammo which is armor piercing will work very efficiently, thus saving ammo. AP Ammo works very well with one shot high powered rifles from my experience, such as the L1A1, FAL, Etc. HP Ammo works well against flesh targets and does help if you can't afford your AP. Below that is your tracer rounds that don't cost anything to equip... So equip them if you can't get anything else!! This guide was only meant to be for NEW players that wish to try Insurgency! Since I've joined I've noticed a lot more F A in the servers. BTW I hope to keep seeing more. These tips are great for starting out but by all means there is a lot more to this game. This is only here to help some people out with getting some core concepts that wish to try the game. Hope to see you guys in game soon and if your new to it, which I hope this guide helped =)... Add me on steam and I will be free to answer any issues or questions you have!!! -Thanks for your time. -Pabb '; -

http://jballou.com/insurgency/stats.php A tool I made a long time ago, it directly reads the game files to generate a stats view. The interface isn't great, but if you ever wondered how much damage the M16 with AP will do at 88 meters against a guy in light armor, now you can find out. Also works for Day of Infamy.

Insurgency Tutorial The Shotguns of Insurgency(Guide)
Billie Jean posted a topic in Insurgency Discussion
Hello Insurgency Forum! ノ Billie Jean reporting in with my first guide on The Shotguns of Insurgency, The Manly M590 and The Tenacious TOZ These shotguns are mostly situational weapons, used correctly, they can be great weapons used to one shot everyone at the right ranges. This guide will contain the many details of the Shotguns, some tips with using the shotgun, and loadouts that work well with the shotguns. Notes: SP=Supply Points *=Estimate ROF=Rate of Fire RPM=Rounds per min CQB/CBC=Close Quarter Battle(s)/Close Quarter Combat Damage Drop is the damage you lose over range with weapons. Damage Drop Start is the range you start lose damage. Damage Drop Shift is the range you shift in losing more damage. Damage Drop End is the range you end up losing the most damage. Fatal Funnel is when you're fighting in buildings and a enemy is hiding in a room waiting to ambush you. 100% Damage is normal damage. Firstly, some details of the shotguns. The M590 is an American 12 gauge(or 20 gauge) pump action shotgun(Breaching Shotgun) with either 12 gauge Buckshots or 12 gauge slugs as its ammo.Made by Mossberg and Sons.(Mossberg 500 Series) Faction: Security Faction Classes: Specialist,Breacher,Engineer Range: 55.88m-76.2m(Slugs) ROF: 90rpm Damage: 36-18x8(144-288)Buckshot (40-288)Slugs Damage Drop Start: 60.95m(-18 damage;Buckshot)/81.28m(-18 damage;Slugs) Damage Drop Shift: 76.2m(-36 damage;Buckshot)/96.52m(-36 damage);Slugs) Damage Drop End: 170.18m(-144 Max damage);Buckshot)/190.5(-144 Max Damage;Slugs) Mag Capacity: 8 Starting Ammo: 8+24(No ammo vest) 8+40(CR Equipped) 8+48(CC Equipped) Reload Time: 0.67s+0.83s per shell(tactical reload)/1.43s+0.83s per shell (interrupeted full reload)/8.1s (full reload) Recoil:9.75-10.5cm vertical, 1.0cm left, 1.25cm right 9.75-10.5 1.0←↑→1.25 Spread: 1.7(Buckshot)/0.068(Slugs) Suppression: 80% Penetration: Poor Weight: 2.54kg Weight Points: 160/640 Weapon Cost: +1 SP Attachments: Optics: Holographic Sight +1 SP Red Dot +1 SP 2x Red Dot +2 SP Kobra Sight +1 SP(CO-OP Only) Barrel: Suppressor +4 SP(CO-OP Hardcore Only) Siderail: Flashlight+1 Sp, Laser Sight +3 SP Underbarrel: Foregrip +2 SP Ammo: Slugs +2 SP The TOZ/TOZ-194 is a Russian 12 gauge pump action Shotgun(Security Shotgun) with either 12 gauge Buckshots or 12 gauge slugs as its ammo. Made by Tula Arms Plant. Faction: Insurgent faction Classes: Bomber & Sapper Range: 106.68m-127m(Slugs) ROF: 80rpm Damage: 36-18x8 (144-288) (Buckshot)/40-288 (Slugs) Damage Drop Start: 111m(-18 damage; Buckshot)/136m(-18 damage;Slugs)* Damage Drop Shift: 127m(-36 damage; Buckshot)/147.32m(-36 damage; Slugs)* Damage Drop End: 220.98m(-144 Max Damage; Buckshot)/241.3m(-144 Max Damage;Slugs)* Mag Capacity: 7 Starting Ammo: 7+21, 7+35(CR), 7+42(CC) Reload Time: 0.67s+0.83s per shell (tactical reload)/1.43s+0.83s per shell (interrupted full reload)/ 8.1s (full reload) Recoil:9.75-10.5cm vertical, 1.0cm left, 1.25cm right 9.75-10.5 1.0←↑→1.25 Spread: 1.6(Both Buck and Slugs) Suppression: 80% Penetration: Poor Weight: 3.82kg Weight Points: 160/640 Weapon Cost: +1 SP/+2 SP(CO-OP Only) Attachments: Optics: Holographic Sight +1 SP(CO-OP Only) 2x Red Dot +2 SP Kobra Sight +1 SP Barrel: Suppressor +4 SP(CO-OP Only) Siderail: Flashlight+1 Sp, Laser Sight +4 SP Underbarrel: Foregrip +2 SP Ammo: Slugs +2 SP 00 Buckshot/3/4 Slugs Damage Multiplier: Head: 100% Chest: 60% Stomach: 60% Arms: 100% Legs: 100% Tips with The Shotgun: Tips : The shoguns are situational weapons mostly used in CQB/CBC engagements such as the maps Uprising,Verticality, and Embassy. When equipping slugs for your shotgun, remember that you'll be shooting one projectile resulting with decrease spread instead of 8 projectiles that have normal spread with the buckshots. Hipfiring with the shotguns will sightly decrease the shotgun damage. While also silencing the noise of the shotgun, The Suppressor also decreases the shotgun damage. Reloading can be cancelled mid-reload animation. When against armored targets aim for the head, legs or arms to put out the most damage. Constantly move around when getting in a shoot-out with a target. Avoid the "Fatal Funnel" when in a CQB. Make sure to look around while under some cover and lean right or left to search around. Also smoke/flash the room you're going to. Recommended on long range maps: Foregrip and Slugs, Sights(Optional) Make sure you still have Buckshot/Slugs, resupply when resupplies are available to you. If outta current ammo loaded, make sure to switch to your trusted secondary. Foregrip gives increase accuracy with sightly increased recoil. Remember to turn that laser sight/flashlight off if not needed at the moment.(B key is default) CO-OP Tips: When your team is in the middle of a CQB, help your team by flanking the enemies When playing on the Survival Gamemode and using the TOZ, reload and move often, don't stick to one place and don't get caught with your pants down. When playing on the Conquer Gamemode, with using the M590, smoke and breach when attacking a objective.(Mostly used in GM, can be use in other instances.) Manage your weight, the less weight equals being more faster to do flanks or help teammates in reach an objective. When playing on the Hunt Gamemode or Night Maps, with using the M590, flank often and be sneaky.(Suppressor Optional) When playing the Checkpoint Gamemode, stay with your team and help suppress the enemy, also smoke and breach when reaching an objective. PVP Tips: The 3 S's of engagements(Speed,Smoke,Suppression) Less weight will make you be speedy with your shotgun which means flank often. Smokes areas where you think enemies would be and then go in and shoot!(Flashes also work too) When playing on long range maps, stay and help your team with slugs and suppression. Remember don't go Rambo, you can't easily be 2v1 or 3v1 since shotguns can't deal with multiple people at the same time. Equipped with a C4/IED, play defensively if protecting an objective by hiding the explosive device near it and getting into cover and peeking with your shotgun. Pushing with to an objective use your Equipped C4/IED and play offensively, throw the explosive device on the objective, blow it, then go in with shotgun in hand. Loadouts: CO-OP: Survival: Class:Sapper,Bomber. Primary: TOZ(Foregrip,No sights(or sights if you prefer),Slugs for Long-range maps,Flashlights for night maps. Secondary: Any does good. Rules for Fearless Assassins Insurgency Servers Cheating and hacking are not allowed on Fearless Assassins servers, nor allowed on any Insurgency servers running VAC (Valve Anti-cheat) and Battle-eye from New World Interactive. Being caught by them will result in permanent ban. Respect players, do not insult, nor say anything racist/sexually remarks, trouble makers will be muted and/or kicked for this. Team killing is not permitted. Do not attack your own team players in any way. Team bleeding and team killing are not allowed, nor using incendiary grenade and cocktail molotov to block and /or injure team mates . You will be warned, kicked or banned depending on what admin feels right so that enjoyable environment is maintained on the server. Do not impersonate a =F|A= community member, you’ll be banned after being given one warning. Admins will try to make you understand but if you don't co-operate you will be banned. No Recruiting or Advertising on =F|A= Servers/Forum. If you disagree with an admin decision, take time to cool down before speaking politely to the admin. If your issue cannot be resolved in the game take it to the forum, but don't keep fighting on server. Screenshots are the best way to prove/disprove the facts! If you see evidence record it! No accusing other players of admin abuse, hax, etc while on server. Take screenshot, demo or condumps as a proof and post it in complaint section of forums. Don't keep arguing with other players for that on server. Using proxy IP on our servers is not allowed unless it has been pre-authorized. All proxies get added to banlist as soon as we catch them. Exploiting a bug or glitch on any map to gain advantage over the enemy is not allowed. Admin will warn you 3 times and after that admin may decide to slay you or to kick you out of the servers, so fair play can be maintained. Repeated rule breaking of this rule after couple kicks will result in short to long term ban depending on what admin sees fit. Fearless Assassins servers are international, English is the main language. English only in main chat. Saying hi, hello or couple of lines to help user/player from another country who don't understand English is allowed but "constant" talking in non-English language is not allowed and admin will end up muting you for that Spamming chat or voice communication chat isn't allowed, after being warned, continuing this will get you muted. Trials/members are required to wear the F|A tag in game. Sitting in spec and giving details about another team, to provide unfair advantage is not allowed. Admin will warn you and even after that it continues, admin will be forced to mute player, till that player remains in spec. Recruiting and cheating = Ban on all servers. Admin guide Team killing Team killing is not tolerated, server will auto kill the team killer. After 3 TK, server ends up on auto kicking the players, if not caught by an admin before. If caught: the player will be slayed and warned in chat, if he keeps on doing so, kick will be issued. After 3 kicks, ban will be issued. Throwing incendiary grenades or molotov to places in order to block teamates, or harm teamates isn't allowed, players caught doing so will get warned first then slay if this keeps on. After being warned and/or slayed 3 times, kick should be issued. After 3 kicks, ban shall be issued. Players caught throwing themselves into grenade range or getting TK intentionnally to get others kicked, are the one who will be kicked instead. Abusing this will lead to ban depending on how the admin sees fit. Player names Abusive names against =F|A= will not be tolerated. Admin will warn you in chat to change name if you put on again abusive names you will be kicked and if you are caught again doing so, you'll be banned. Impersonating any =F|A= clan member intentionally will result in a ban. Advertising with your name (website, IP adresses...) is not tolerated and will result in instant ban. Language 5-10 seconds of conversations of say Hi, Hello, Bye, How are you? etc is fine. If they start talking in there language on server, my eyes and/or ears start bleeding. If they start talking in their language for more than a few sentences, tell them English only please. If some admin is helping some new player in their native language it is fine. If someone is talking continuously in another language mute them after giving them 3 warnings on chat. (mute according to the way he uses to express himself: coms, chat...) Advertising and/or recruiting: Not allowed, players caught doing so will be banned. Cheating Cheating is not allowed, cheaters caught by anti-cheat system will be permanently banned from all Insurgency servers available online. Admin abuse If valid complains are filed against any member with valid proof below steps will be taken: 1st complain = 1 verbal warning via private message through Steam chat or through forum PM's. 2nd complain = Demotion. You will be moved to temp level for probation period decided by management (Staff, coleader, leader or founders) 3rd Complain = Your membership will be suspended for good. Giving random reasons on !kick or !ban would be considered as a violation of admin authority. If are you found using kick or ban command with random reasons, Random message, Racial comments, etc., you will be warned couple of times if things keep on like this , you will be demoted. Sometimes if the user is just a jerk, we would let it go but 99% of time we wouldn't. So if you see yourself demoted after giving out random reasons in !kick(s) or !ban(s), don't complain. You have been warned. Fearless Assassins community doesn't tolerate admin abuse.

I'm so good I can scare the bots into submission and conquer the map without a single shot fired (No idea what happened, the enemy count stayed on 4 the whole map, but never saw anybody)

Here a insurgency server list with more details. We really should put Survival, the toughest game mode in Insurgency back into out hardcore server. We have it on our beginners server. It should be swapped. It makes no sense at its current state. One more change that has impacted the server, Me and many people I have talked too is the way the new bot count works. It's not the best. To play hardcore you should be able to vote on bot count. I don't want to sit around in a server at an off time to play and there's only two of us so we get what, 8-11 bots? It's not the way Insurgency is meant to be played. On another similar note the spawning of them is completely broken with the way bot count works. They spawn in front of you or behind at random times. This needs to be fixed and redone to the older better functioning state the way the games meant to be played.

So, I was on server number 2 with Redy and he somehow we got on the topic of mods, and I told him that there is a whole community of dedicated modders that have been creating awesome content for the game for quite some time now. This isn't really a tutorial as once you find the page, you will be able to do everything you need to install the mods by clicking a single button. Except for the total conversion mods, but I don't really mess with those. Step one is to go to the Insurgency game in your library and select it. You will see the menu that allows you to launch the game and see which of your friends play the game etc.... Step two is to scroll down till you see the Steam Workshop banner underneath the DLC section of the page. Select the Browse the Workshop button and BAM, you are transported to the land of magical unicorns that is the modding community for this game. Step three is to click on any mod you see that even remotely interests you and click on it. Once you get to the mod's page, scroll down to where it says "Subscribe to Download" Here is where it gets easy. Just click that little subscribe button, wait for your download to finish and then launch the game. Easy peezy lemon squeezy. All the necessary information will be in the section below the subscribe button, letting you know what mods are compatible with what, and if there are any additional steps to installing the mod. That's it, also, your game may be subject to more random crashes if you have over 50 mods installed like I do. Pics are of the in-game community mod page because I am have no earthly idea how to take a screenshot of my desktop.... Someone help me with that if you don't mind.

What are we running on for FA1 and FA2? I am putting together an HP 380P Gen 8 solution for some home use that is way overkill and could potentially run another FA server. -Eric

Firstly, thanks to all those that have been playing on the 2 servers. We appreciate you spending some time there and supporting us. The servers are doing really well lately. We have a couple changes in place and an upcoming change. We have 2 coop servers that are basically the same. One of these servers will be switched to a 32 slot PvP server in the near future. Give that a try when you can. A few plugins have been installed on the servers. SpecDetails When you die, and become a spectator - this plugin will show a panel on the left with details about the player you're spectating. Details Shown: * Name * Weapon in use * Kills * Deaths * Health ReflectTK This plugin was created to curb some team killing that was happening on the server due to players not paying attention to their surroundings. Once installed, this plugin will reflect any damage caused by friendly fire, onto the attacker. Messages pop up on both the victim and the attacker's screen explaining what happened. MyCompass With this plugin, you'll have a compass in game at all times. No need for a command - and it also shows you a compass while spectating. You have the choice of where to print the compass on the screen. AmmoStatus You won't have to wonder about the amount of ammo you've got left anymore with this plugin. It will show you the status of your magazine in percentages. It can share the screen with another plugin, which is what I needed to do for our servers as we're also running ShowHealth which prints your health to the screen. Check it out and let us know what you think.

This tutorial is intended for our guests, server regulars as well as our server admins. Recording demos of Insurgency game play can be a fun way to share your in-game experiences. It can also serve as a method for providing proof for player complaints and appeals as well as evidence for server admins when using their admin commands. This tutorial is taken from the Valve Community Wiki and is limited to just the recording and playback of Insurgency demos. The full tutorial which includes editing and other playback options can be found at: https://developer.va...ng_and_playback Basic recording and playback of Insurgency Demos. · To record an in-game demo, open the console by using the ~ key. Type record in the console command line and then type the name of the file that you want the demo written to, example “record kev01”. The demo file (.dem extension) is saved in your current game directory, e.g. \steam\steamapps\common\Insurgency2\Insurgency ( depending on your installation your directory structure may be different). · To stop recording, open console ( ~ key ) and type stopdemo in the command line. This command can be bound to any open key that you have available. To bind this command, open console and type bind <whatever key you want> stopdemo. For example, bind k stopdemo · To play a previously recorded demo, again enter the console ( ~ key ) and type playdemo and the file name, ex. “playdemo kev01”. Again, there is a full demo player and demo editor available, see the wiki link referenced above for information on using those tools. ** Keep in mind that recording Insurgency demos can consume a large amount of hard drive space. At 800x600 resolution, 1 single frame will take up about 1.5 megabytes of space. That roughly equates to a little over 2 gigs per minute. That number could be larger or smaller depending on your settings...but you get the point. If you need or would like to upload these files to the forums you should always compress the file before attempting to upload. Even compressed, these files may still be too large to upload so the use of a 3rd party site such as Dropbox, etc. may need to be used. You can view the help file for uploading files to the forums here: http://fearless-assa...=15&hl=download If you have any questions please let me know.

Insurgency Tutorial "snd_restart" bind - for use with sound mods
David your friend posted a topic in Insurgency Discussion
If you use any sound mods (whether your own, or from workshop) you might have noticed problems. The problems you might have encountered may include no audio, out-of-sync sound, and static. To fix this you need to enable console. To open console press the key right below Esc (for American kb's that would be this key `/~). Now you can either manually enter the command below or bind it to a key of your choice. snd_restart To bind it to the 'Home' key, enter the command below in console: bind "home" "snd_restart" It is common for your screen to pause & audio to become mute for a moment or two. This should fix sound issues. If it does not resolve your issues, please verify Insurgency or simply remove offending sound mods.-

Insurgency Tutorial autoexec.cfg - looking for a few more FPS for Insurgency?

I have posted an updated tutorial here ~> to my tutorial.. > Open Insurgency's properties by right-clicking on its library listing in Steam and then clicking "Properties" > Click on "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." > Enter: +exec autoexec.cfg *I cannot supply screenshots for the remainder of the steps because I use Linux* > Create/Open a new text file with notepad (or some other text editor) > Copy(ctrl+c) & paste(ctrl+v): cl_forcepreload "1" mat_queue_mode "1" mat_reduceparticles "1" r_shadowmaxrendered "20" r_propsmaxdist "1000" r_fastzreject "-1" snd_mix_async "1" > Save as "autoexec.cfg" (change to "All files" instead of ".txt document") into this directory ".../steam/steamapps/common/insurgency2/insurgency/cfg/" > Launch Insurgency & witness a boost in your frames per second at the cost of lowering hardly noticeable options If you had trouble, try using Impromtu's Steam guide!- 9 replies

As in the Title here we could share mods that we are using. For me there are some modifications that boost the game experience such as Relistic weapon sounds, supersonic cracks and realistic bullet impacts example here Or some graphical mods like this beauty right here And also those character models that are superb compared to stock ones How to use them? it's very simple. Go to the workshop in steam browser find a mod that interests you click "subscribe" Wait for it to download And it's ready to be used Note: Sound files require you to open the console (~) and type in snd_restart so the sounds can kick in
