1 Administrators daredevil Posted July 9, 2018 Administrators Posted July 9, 2018 Uptime has no effect on server laggines. It's 90% client PC or ISP. Too many myths even after 15 yrs. Linux servers are up for 2 yrs straight and yet they run fine, for an example. Big maps lag because of rendering. 5 Quote

0 Gengis Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Your are nice with your 90 %. I say to the players the lag is always due to their ISP and i tell em to use winmrt to identify where the problem is. Gengis Quote
0 RendeL Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Here's winmtr just few minutes ago. Also I have been in that believe that the server logs gets way too big (more mem and cpu usage) and therefore the lag exist more easily than on those that gets rebooted daily. But what do I know. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | | 77.223.56.22 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 4 | 11 | 46 | 12 | | 77.223.56.144 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 4 | 4 | 18 | 5 | | 62.145.191.208 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 4 | 4 | 6 | 5 | | 213.192.190.21 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 14 | 15 | 41 | 15 | | 213.192.191.173 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 14 | 15 | 52 | 15 | | 193.110.226.44 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 15 | 15 | 51 | 15 | | 213.239.224.17 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 22 | 22 | 36 | 23 | | 213.239.245.37 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 40 | 40 | 46 | 41 | | 213.239.252.45 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 41 | 46 | 162 | 41 | | 213.239.203.150 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 45 | 46 | 53 | 46 | | 213.239.229.62 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 45 | 46 | 57 | 46 | | 144.76.100.131 - 0 | 103 | 103 | 45 | 45 | 47 | 45 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Quote
0 Guest Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 if I can give my humble opinion !!! the main problem that players do not want to understand is this: 1st - an experienced player, knows how to clean his computer before starting an online game session, which consists of this: 2 - restart the router / modem restart the computer run antispyware scan disable all the programs that use the network (for example all the auto updates, of any program) disable windows update disable all the wi-fi devices and switch off the wi-fi service from the modem / router connect only the computer you use to play the ethernet network 3rd - and not less important, control the settings from the console write / com_hunkmegs, without value and press enter, to check the amount of ram actually set in the cfg (90% of players use com_hunkmegs 56) use in ET shortcut, minimum value of com_hunkmegs 256, or 512 having to play in servers populated, with so much spam, being in 2018, and not in the distant 2003 when this game was born the main problem, and that we should create a wiki visible in the main of the forum, and a message in the server, which appears at the sight of the players when they enter the server, which specifies the recommended settings to not have lag and not to produce, this would allow everyone to be in good standing to keep the server in order besides many rude and uncaring, they are used to downloading and uploading, or in any case they keep open programs such as utorrent etc., this is bad for the FA servers 2 Quote
0 Guest Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 having said that, I personally restart my modem / router 2 times a day every 12 hours, and my computer 4 times a day, I have many computers, to play ET I use one clean only for this game Quote

0 Guest Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 lag can depend on more factors hard disk to defragment or even to format or re-create partitions problems of your ISP problems with the modem / router CPU overload modem / router firmware problems ram problems spyware programs in the background etc... 1 Quote

0 Guest Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 because sad, if you use wi-fi it could be the disturbed channel or the transmitter of your modem, which has its ups and downs 😎 Quote
0 Guest Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 if you use ethernet instead, then change ISP It also depends on your upload line or maybe your modem has problems, you should have one of your friend to try, to see the differences Quote
