This is such a sad story. Looks like he was a passenger in a friends porsche for a test ride during a charity car show to raise money for the Philippines relief effort.  Dude apparently wrapped it around a pole and the car caught fire. This is a fairly industrial area that I've been to a few times for street races. It's also down the road from a large amusement park (Magic Mountain).

If this is an Onion story...I've been totally suckered, but I'd welcome the humiliation. RIP P.W.
