I've been telling people years mate although its only really 125 that gives the advantage with jumping but given mos tof FA servers have double jump enabled its never really been an issue, 125 allows you to jump higher and as a result also allows you to jump slightly further too. An example of the 125 advantage is other than being able to jump on boxes (with single jump) is that you can jump the canal by allies second spawn on Venice.

71 FPS giving lower recoil is also true and was actually banned on some pub servers as it was seen as an unfair advantage, although IMHO it isn't really that much less recoil. Some servers are capped @ 250 FPS as anything above that in the quake engine is pointless.

Actually yes, if done correctly.  You can get rid of almost all turning spread with the right FPS/mouse hz combo.

Not in ET no, the engine running ET is over 20 years old. Even though 333 fps actually allows you to jump further and higher than 125 does on the quake 3 engine 333 fps will only help on a LAN network. Over the internet the reason 125 is the magic number is because the game engine calculates a maximum of 125 player movements per second (cl_maxpackets 125). In competitive ET LAN play the frame dependence was addressed by changing a server setting which effectively nullified frame rate to fixed rates to even the playing field and removing any advantage FPS may/may not give. 

 

Accuracy IMHO is more about a combo of settings, stable mouse ratio, hz, fps etc etc than just FPS alone. Ultimately though you will only ever be as good as your personal best, the sad truth is like anything in life no matter what tools and settings we all use we cant all be equal to one another and some will always be better than others. I've no doubt we can all probably benefit slightly from more practice or changing in game settings like mouse sensitivity etc but in the end we can only ever be as good as we each can be.

Not exactly. 125 FPS does still make you jump higher. There are boxes on some maps that you can only jump with 125 fps. There is a command "pmove_fixed" that is used in ETjump servers, to make everybody move as if they had 125 fps. In etpro they "fixed" the issue with b_fixedphysics. But in other mods 125 still gives you higher jumps.

The reason they can't just enable pmove_fixed 1 in all the other servers, is because it makes recoil terrible.

Yeah 333 does allow you to jump higher and further than any other fixed fps on LAN, not online as your limited by the 125 maxpackets, i edited my post as you were replying to try reword it better, i couldn't remember the fixed p command which effectively makes 333 useless even on LAN etc. Also there is no need to enable pmove_fixed on servers played on the internet as your always limited by maxpackets.

its not hard to test this.. ... ive done it with several cards..  7800gtx 8400gs  8800gts 9800gt an a 660gtx.

 

pulled 500fps with each one. but game doesnt like 500fps. or even 333.i used to have videos on here of me testing it.wonder where they went.lol

It's truer. I can show over 300 FPS but everyone I See in spec shows connection error. That  drops if I go to 150 FPS, but I cap it at 125 and have no issues

wasnt it me and u who had a chat on this  like 2 yrs ago. its what made me do the tests. for sum odd reason  i remember 166fps being a magical number also.ill have too see if i can dig up the videos i took .there not in my  attachments and i dont remember deleting em.
