please help my fiber optic bandwitch change, from ethernet and wi-fi

Recommended Posts

I put the fiber optic this morning

I have a problem in wi-fi speed test

Is ethernet down 80Mb / s up to 20Mb / s

On wi-fi 5 ghz down 40MB / s up to 20MB / s

On wi-fi 2.4 ghz down 50Mb / s up to 20MB / s

-------------------------------------------------- -----

With the old connection

Ethernet test

Down 12Mb up 0.50Mb / s

Wi-fi test 2.4 ghz

Down 10Mb up 0.40Mb / s

How can i get the same wi-fi download band?

The obvious one is to change the Wi-Fi channel. You can use a program called Vistumbler to scan your neighbourhood for all the Wi-Fi channels being used, you want to use one no-one else is using if possible, or just which ever one is being used least.

Although I'd be surprised if this gives a huge difference, I'm not sure why your Wi-Fi would be so much less.. I only lose a small percent of speed over Wi-Fi

In fact even if channel change, the problem remains.

And I started playing on jay3, my ping is 45 while first with adsl 12Mb down and 0.50MB up I had 80

But in wi-fi I have the lagometer full of yellow triangles

Do you normally play on WiFi?? I've never had good connections on wifi, even with a 1GB fiber Optic internet. Too many other things using my WiFi, I guess

You might hit the barrier of your router\modem. Not all can put through as much as your ISP provides.

Give modem and router specs, check the label under the "boxes"

Your bottleneck is probably whatever AP/Router you're using.

What I said but just remembered the router could be top notch but also the WIFI card on PC\laptop has to be n or ac standard.

Reason I ask sense a newer development for MoCA it went from 1.1 to 2.0 on most new routers the up/down is maxed now to 350mbps most normal routers have 50-100mbps I'm currently throttled by Spectrum if they didnt I would suck their line dry.

Your router can transmit data over WiFi on maximum speeds of 450Mbit\s, on MByte\s it´s 8x less giving us roughly 56MB\s for maximum throughput. There´s no manual on official site, so can´t say if you can use both channels- 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz- simultaneously to boost up your speeds.

On cable you are limited to Gigabit LAN, that does 125MByte\s.

And the specs of your WIFI card on PC\laptop are? My preferred monitoring program is HWINFO64, there are more ofc...

Also what kind of internet connection did you choose? Surely your ISP has some site where it shows exact speeds, because I´m confused if you are referring to MB\s or to Mb\s(1 MB\s = 8Mb\s).

Re install PC side driver. Depending PC it maight use only 2,4Ghz (and some drivers stumble on that channel change)

True that. When I switched to 1Gb Fiber Optic, I was only getting close to 100 Mb d/l until I realized my card was limited to 100Mb/s. updated to GB card and boom, d/l @+/- 850
