Sluggish mouse-jitter when moving mouse quickly?

Every time I play ET lately , I suffer from intermittent mouse jitter which makes my turning very difficult..

Win10 / Ryzen 5 1500x / Geforce GTX 1050Ti (OC) / MSI b350 Plus Gaming mobo

Doesn't seem to be an issue with the mouse or I'd notice it during other usage, seems only to be when playing.

Anyone know what causes this?

For me its usually just a hair caught between the optical led and the desk.

Best to cover the basics.  It reads like your overclocking, have you turned it off to rule it out?  Have you tried turning off any mouse accelerators or Snap To settings in the operating system settings?  ET also has a smooth mouse check box, mine is off sometimes these settings battle against each other.

It's not the mouse, and CPU is powerful so not that, BUT I do think it's some background process because if I kill all, it doesn't happen.  So now just need to narrow down which app is causing it.

Checked all the obvious and overclocking is not causing it luckily.  See above for my current diagnostic :) it must be some app I have running

What program has high privilages and takes "pulls" games(ET) to desktop? Do you see mouse flickering, if yes then it´s some program trying to get ET minimised. If not then it might still be mouse. Now I remembered, I had to turn my mouse polling rate from 1000Hz to more reasonable 500Hz or even lower. It can cause problems.

Just checking, do you have wired mouse?

It wasn't any setting, it was lag caused by desktop wallpaper slideshow - every time it transitioned it caused my mouse movement to lag ingame

But thanks all for your suggestions :)
