Smileyyy Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 I think when you give people stuff like dj, adre, double weapon, throwable knives, etc etc, it will deter them from doing the obj. Double jump is ok for OBJ based gameplay, but I have to agree. Double weapon, throwing knives and etc do take away the OBJ based gameplay. 1 Quote

But makes people want to frag more than make them do the obj, as they have more opportunity to do the latter Quote
Dest!Ny Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 what do you wanna do against people that dont play obj on your obj server? kick them? and what about the 'noobs' who dont know obj? dont allow them there? Setting up a public server where everyone is forced to play 1 gamestyle is ridiculous, go play private ETPro or something. 1 Quote
Senior Member Vindstot Posted March 15, 2018 Senior Member Posted March 15, 2018 Playing the obj is not required to have fun. I rarely do. What provides the most fun to the visitors is the main thing to keep in mind. J1 is not a diehard obj playing map, and its the most popular. Maybe there are ways to improve J1, but its not obvious. Status quo is always an option, and if there is no logical decision, then there should be made none Quote

Not saying it is NOT allowed to play for frags only, nothing to do against it. But it is possible to make the players reach out more towards OBJ playing. Quote

Xernicus Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I think what Destiny is saying (could be wrong), is to read the JayMod and ET server manuals/wiki and find the cvars that enforce this (Hint... there are none, or few and far between and don't really enforce anything)I guess we could look at scripts to enforce obj based teamplay, but even then it's still flipping a coin. You could force everyone to be an engineer at xyz point in the map, they might not do the engineering though. But what do we do then? Boot em off? That ain't gonna work. We'd have better luck and it would be less work re-vitalizing our ETPro and SW servers.RE: Jay2- I'd be alright with a Euro "copy" of it, but I personally wouldn't like to see one of our few US servers going by the wayside. I primarily play on Euro servers, but sometimes it's nice to play with a more reasonable 70ms latency than 170ms. 1 Quote
Winterz Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Forcing people on a jaymod server to play for objective just sounds ridiculous. Jaymod is not made for objective based gameplay, its a chill pub style for fragging and just all round taking it easy. If people want to play seriously for objectives, they should be playing ETPro or servers like Hardcore. Jay1 has been the most popular server for years with it's easygoing server settings, no reason why Jay2 should have such a big difference if you'd want it to attract more people. It would already get a hell of a lot more players if it was EU based. Quote
Dest!Ny Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Read the topic the nade thing? less explosive = more OBJ play? What do you have in mind? Obviously there are no cvars that influence the amount of obj play going on, so what do you want to resort to? class limitations? how will that influence how a person plays a map? How does server settings change a person, and which server settings wouldthose be? And please dont give me these 2/3 worded answers, I believe you want to defend your suggestion so do just that and dont act so inattentive about it Quote

People will lean more towards engineer class -> More OBJ play. Not innatentive about it, your answer is just in the topic Quote

Not innatentive about it, your answer is just in the topic just because a person plays engineer doesnt mean he plays obj, and Im not even only talking about riflenades, Currently most people who play engi smg probably partially play objective, thats why they chose that class. If you now decide to nerf lets say medic or field ops and all of these players become engi smg doesnt mean that they will play bj, they will still play the same way (definitely in the case of medics) or the server just dies out because hardly anyone wants to play on a server where they are so restricted when there are better options out there Quote
DFighter Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 It's that Daredevil is so nice and helpfullbut the first thing that came up in my mind was again the same people want change and whine about it i wonder did your own server failed or ? 1 Quote
