Kat0n Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Hi, I don't know if someone could help me there. My PC has the following characteristics : Intel Core i5-4210U NVIDIA GeForce 920M with 2GB of VRAM 4 GB DDR3 L Memory (no clue of what it is) I should get better in computers to give you a more accurate description My problem is that I have FPS drops in all the games I play, these days I mainly play ET and War Thunder, more secondarily Rocket League and Fortnite. In War Thunder I have a stable 60-80 FPS so I really don't understand, same in ET so it's not about the game it's about the computer (tried r_primitives and all settings set to minimum in ET). In ET it's a clear FPS drop so it's like mini-freezes (during arty or fight with multiple enemies), and in recent games, nothings freezes but it's like I'm seeing motions in a blurry manner, a bit similar to what your eyes see when you're drunk. Really complicated to explain so I hope I did it fine I hope I didn't damage a vital component of my PC, I used to run rocket league in medium-low and war thunder in high and Insurgency in medium-high afair. When I reduce the quality I increase my FPS and manage to reduce the drops, but in ET I can't go lower for example. Thanks I pay in recognition and e-cookies Quote
Eazy Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I m only following for the cookies i m having a lot of fps fluctuation too soo looking for a cue Quote

Xernicus Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Is this an AIO (All-in-one) PC, or another type of small form factor? When's the last time you used compressed air to blow it out? Regarding the memory, "DDR3" is the type (double data rate) and generation (3). "L" means low voltage. 1 Quote
Sparrow Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Xerni its funny because as i´ve said up here, i too have the same graphic card, y pc was new, nd i´ve experienced the same fp drops, thats why i use the intel ghraphic card Quote

It should be able to handle these games without a problem. Switching over to Intel Integrated Graphics doesn't fix the problem, it mitigates it. Judging by the age of the system, my guess is that it worked fine until recently, and that's why Kat made a topic only now. The low-voltage memory and UltraBook processor tells me that it's either a notebook, SFF, or AIO- that's why I'm wondering if it's throttling due to overheating. A driver update could also be to blame. 1 Quote

And you've made me realize I never actually tried to clean it up, except, screen and keyboard Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted January 25, 2018 Leader Posted January 25, 2018 4 GB DDR3 L Memory (no clue of what it is) From ifixit.com "DDR3L is a dual voltage capable memory DIMM, which supports operation at both 1.5V and 1.35V. DDR3L is also pin-compatible with DDR3. DDR3 is a single voltage capable memory DIMM, which supports 1.5V operation only. " 1.35V in a laptop should save power and run cooler. Here are more answers on the subject from Quora : https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-DDR3-and-DDR3L-SD-RAM Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted January 27, 2018 Administrators Posted January 27, 2018 Make sure u power is set to performance in laptop. "U" CPU's are horrible. Also make sure your NVIDIA drivers are up to date and try playing threaded optimization or something.. i remember nvidia having issues with openGL games. 2 Quote
