New custom commands

We have command called !tsip !serverip etc etc What more custom commands you guys would like to see to make your admin job much easier. Please post suggestions and let me know and we will try to add it where ever possible.

I know that it's part of the server msgs but i assume a bind for how to report a cheater would be useful for admins as well, considering the fact most of the regulars or at least some publicy accuse players and admins could simply use a command, lets say for instance !cheater and it would come up with an info of what they have to do, such as record demo and post at forums for short one.

 

Maybe second one could be also useful for ppl who struggle with some lag, but would be able to resolve it with basic commands, as i have seen so many times ppl still using maxpackets on 30, or some having rate on 4000 and such, so maybe with !lag command u could simply add a short text with commands that would maybe help some players in getting rid of that lag.

 

Not entirely sure if its already done, but maybe in a way of how to create an application towards F|A could be one as well, as said, not sure if that isn't already included.

I think for that issue we could use a banner,which sais that contact an Admin if u think someone is cheating.

 

For rate and maxpackets,some dont speak English and even dont look the chat-I have no idea what to do with em.

rate and maxpackets just ignore them .. they get auto adjusted on there next reconnect. If it doesn't then hrm, we can look into it. Try to help them and if that doesn't work just ignore. For NQ 1.2.3 and onwards we can force or provide range like we do on silEnT mod servers. Sadly jaymod doesn't have sv_cvar functionality.

more a question than an actual request: Would the following work or is it to complex?

 

To log information about a trouble player we usually run:

- !finger

- !aliases

- maybe some other commands like /Players /Scores !stats !hstats etc

- and then /condump xxx.txt

 

Is there a way to make this more streamline so it gets easier for members and admins to report players? Maybe all the above in one command?

This would ensure quality reports because all members would automatically report players the correct desired way.

The founders/staff could also be able to make adjustments to the new command in the future and everyone would automatically use the new adjusted command.

 

Should give us a good tool to ensure quality and streamline processes.

Is it possible to add the !baninfo command for nq? For other servers it's far more easier for members to gather information after a ban was issued, on nq you have to do !finger first and as far as i know there's no !baninfo command like on other servers.

Is it possible to have something similar like !aliases on jaymod. That will make things a lot easier for catching common trolls.

What about a comnand explaining how to report admin abuse ? The players just dunno how to do it and also dont know it will be looked at seriously by 18+ admins.

This may be a bit off topic but still related to it. And it's just an idea. How about adding some fun/stupid commands to admins, say when they hit lvl 14. I'm talking about !pants !pop and !pip. Simple, fun/stupid commands. I never see anyone using those anymore. Let's bring em back just for some added enjoyment. I miss seeing people running around in their undies (hehehe!)

Guess there are some good reasons for adding those to 18+ only

However, I did notice that admins have more commands on silent mod. I do think it could be useful to add some of these fun commands/abuse commands to servers that lack admins. It's only a small thing, but it could actually help getting more admins to these servers (say, recruiting and jay2 for instance).

Giving level 12 some extra commands could help getting more admins on fun1 as well.

 

Other idea's:

1. !fun to explain whiners that they shouldn't worry about everything and just enjoy the game (could display "The game is for fun! Enjoy. If it affects your temper too much, take a walk and sing a song!" or anything a bit less sarcastic);
2. !proof to explain how to take proof and where to post it (could display "Type /autoscreenshot or /autorecord in your console and look for it in your mod folder. Post it on www.fearless-assassins.com.");
3. !setting to explain our servers have different settings (could display "Our servers have different settings. Check out jay3 for rapid fire, hc for rushing maps, fun1 for heavy weapons and nq2 for panzercam!").

I am not in favor in adding commands for fun purpose. Commands are there to use it only when required. It's not for fun. For fun you have the game and friends that you play with. The day, you feel commands are fun, you should evaluate your "fun" play.

We already have that on few levels. I believe, I did give !splat to few levels. I might make it available from level 14 or level 15+ to deal with team killers.

People don't read pinned topics when they are on forms what make you think they will read it. I might think something about it though because I have something else in my mind for it.

If anyone had too much time and talent, something similar to nq stats would already help a lot. Although it has some disadvantages as it has to be updated regularly to be usable.
