Well i'm well aware that most of the things i think influence my gameplay are just between my head or what i've become accustomed to however there are some aspects i always try to get right befor playing.

For instance. I usually wear lenzes but i get the feeling i play better with glasses on. Then it needs to be relatively dark in my room with a small light on my desk. My keyboard needs to be placed in the far left corner of my desk facing the screen in a diagonal way. I play in minimized screen and the rest of my screen needs to be black or atleast dark. Oh and my sound needs to be at a volume i can just hear foodsteps but it doesnt get my adrenaline up to high that i'm going all spastic when i get shot at.

Now the last few days i wasnt playing all to well till i noticed that my chair was lower than normal so i put it higher and all of a sudden i get a solid 45 acc with atleast 2hs/ kill so in the future my chair will be in this position:P

So what do you guys think is it just superstition or do you have a similar setup?

I'm better with my classic mouse, keyboard and pc. Also, I like to have a lot of space to move my mouse. Weirdly, I'm slightly better with sound off (more hs, higher acc), but I can't really enjoy the game in this case, so, usually, I have the sound on. I need also a specific support for my mouse, smooth, not deformable, a wooden table/desk for example

Back in the day I'd watch some the beast highlight videos like Max Chapter 3 on full screen before warming up for matches. :X

I have somewhat of a routine before I start playing games. I adjust a lot of my settings(sensitivity, resolution, drawgun, DPI etc). Kind of unconventional, but I feel weird if I don't for some reason. I also like to adjust my chair so I'm sitting straight, but I end up slouching a little bit almost always. Another part of my routine is making sure my keyboard is positioned sideways cause I find it more comfortable and have my mouse pad placed past my monitor. Last thing I do is make sure I'm calm cause if I start to get nervous or jittery I can't aim how I want to.

yeah my chair has to be high up and my keyboard sideways. I can't really play with it straight on the table top. I have a bigger mouse pad now so my pad isn't a problem anymore. rarely I play with headphones, but mostly I play with the volume kind of low.

I have a certain way I sit at my desk.. Chair height, position to screen, how I wrest my arm and where on the desk, how I hold the mouse, what position the keyboard is and the spacing between it and my mouse, etc.. but that's just a given for players. The main thing that effects my game play is along the lines of what Geoff said. I'll either watch a demo of myself I like or there's a few certain frag movies. There's a few players that if I watch their aiming style and movement before I play have a great effect on how I play myself. Also videos with no crosshair seem to have a great effect on how I play after.

hmm i think i get into the "Zone" just by doing a couple fast spree's after that i start feeling that i am in control, that there is no one that can stop you. And yeah it's very important to stay calm i've noticed when i start getting angry or w/e, my head isn't in the game anymore, just running stupid, unprepared into the fights and that causes alot stupid deaths.

if someone sits on my computer chair or uses my headset it takes some time to adjust em back , also with keyboard and mouse pad has to be in diffenrent postion depending on game.

I play better with sound off, but i can enjoy the game more with the sound on :P for the rest, i dont realy know what affects my playing. though, i play better on days where i can only play for 30-60 minutes that day when i have actually NO time to play, then i play 4 hours straight on a lazy day :P

I lost my gaming zone when I quit playing Quake,

on occasion I turn the volume up on the game, so it sounds like a war zone in the basement but most of the time it's jammin to my favorite music and sipping on my favorite cup of coffee.
