Auto Assign?

What is FA's position on using the Auto Assign?

 

I am constantly telling players to use the auto assign as I find it frustrating when the teams start very unbalanced. I get that if you are an american you want to be a marine but if everyone wants to be a marine the other team gets their a$$ handed to them until the teams are auto balanced. Then, the autobalance always takes the players from the bottom of the stacked team and the beating continues.

 

The FA servers are the best I have played on and the Admin's do a great job of keeping the game enjoyable.

 

I would like to hear other's opinions on this and particularly what the official FA's position is.

..well we wish people will auto assign but we cant force them too unless it unevens the teams. then we ask them not to teamstack (thats what we call it when they unbalance the teams on purpose...). So I mean we are okay with people choosin the team they want but we try to encourage them to use auto assign and not unbalance teams.

since teamstacking isnt allowed we'd like to see all people auto assign, other wise the pb will do it for them

Always choose op for or auto assign if i'm joining mid-map. Durka durka for life!

too many players don't use auto assign

and it bothers me so much. sometimes I wish you could make them use auto assign.

I always use auto assign if it is a new map. If I come in mid map, I look at the teams as well as the scores and join the weaker team.

There is really nothing we can do as far as auto-assign goes. BUT!--- if auto balance puts a player on the other team and they switch back, admin will warn (or kick if its a persistant problem). The best you can do is remind ppl not to stack teams and let the admin put the smack down on those that wont play nice.

 

PS: Dak, hopefully you will get a trial soon and you can warn the team stackers)

I don't see the problem with Auto Assign.. In CoD there are no fixed team spawnpoints, only generic spawnpoints, so there's no benefit of being on a particular team. You have to just be a total douche stacker to not use auto-assign..

Some maps definitely have a side that is easier to play on and has a higher likelyhood of winning. I personnaly enjoy the challenge when I am autoassigned to the disadvantaged side but it is disheartening when you look at the teams and you are starting off with 5 guys and the advataged side has 15. By the time PB gets around to balancing the teams, there is almost no chance of a victory.

I always use auto assign, it's easier for me. If ender is online i always join his team though but just for the lolz, if pb puts me on another team i'm cool with that. I have never had a team stacker though, must not happen when i'm around

In CoD there are fixed spawnpoints for objective maps. For S&D (Countdown on Abnerdog), some really don't want to attack and choose marines by default (they start with defending IIRC). Since switching teams afterwards is not successful (you won't respawn until battle is won...), choosing teams there is awesome. Unfortunately.

 

Also, for example if you want to capture the tunnels in Pipeline (and obviously everyone wants to capture the tunnels), spets have a real advantage because they can enter immediately.

I kind of think when people stack on marines because they want to be american is kind of like when people stack on alliance in World of Warcraft. Sure the team is stacked, but its filled with noobs.

I always use Auto-assign, I think this makes the team farer. If you wait to see who's on each team than join the better team your not even challenging yourself.
