=Death Hunter= Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I have been pretty faiyhful to Jaymod even all the way back to 2005. Whats your favorite MOD and why? Quote
Clan Friend SunLight Posted April 5, 2012 Clan Friend Posted April 5, 2012 hmm the difference between 'mods' is not only due to mod features, but also server settings typical of servers with that mod. For example etpro has fast shooting, but I never saw any etpro server with it enabled... That being said, my favourite mod is etpro, and it's also the mod I played most (but jaymod is close now, since last 2 years I played almost only that) if you want to know why (I know you don't , but I wanted to write a wall of text ), here is a (long) list of reasons (in no particular order): - it's the 'standard' mod used in all official competitions, and I don't like nonstandard stuff in the past I didn't play any other mod, because I didn't want to get used to different hit detections/physics, it's good for trickjump servers too. - there is tzac, meaning that you have at least a bit of protection (but if I play from Linux I can't play there...) - generally server configs prevent players from using lame settings - other mods don't have any feature that is missing on etpro which really improves the gameplay. They have only new (mostly unbalanced or nubish) weapons, the only good things I can think of are widescreen support, and commands for public server admins, the latter is very useful, but it can be done via lua on etpro too. etpro servers tend to have settings/features I like: less slots, no total beginners, no raters, standard speed and of course no doublejump, ff on, no xp save, standard spawntimes, they even play for the objective sometimes, because there are no raters who never play for obj, and no beginners who have no idea about what to do, or who revive you when there's 1 second in your timer and you wanted to selfkill. You even have servers with stopwatch on. Of course it can't be remotely compared to a clanwar, but it's fun for a nub like me to ape that kind of gameplay without the need to have a team, the game is slower and there is room for both tactical and technical skill. Standard spawntimes being an important factor in that. And generally there is more freedom for players, they can say what they want, call votes, etc. The game is played the way it was designed without weird features, like super speeds that make players more unhittable, xpsave and adre making some weapons useless (rifle, ... etc.) At this point you might ask why I play jaymod... it's because I like to play with players I know. Once I play a lot in a server it feels like home. Quote
RetroLeaves Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I like No Quarter the most. Jaymod just feels different to me, and I don't care much for the green smoke. I like the fact that the spawn times are pretty fast, because when it's 15 vs 15, the object often goes out the window and it's just an all out frag fest. Sometimes it's nice to play et pro at max 6v6, but then tactics come into play and I'm not much of a tactical player. But it's good to play et pro, it improves your aim. Playing jaymod causes lazy aim in my opinion. Quote
Parismo Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I like No Quarter the most. Jaymod just feels different to me. I like the fact that the spawn times are pretty fast, +1 and i love the enormous double jump, picking up all kinds of weapens Quote
Chuckun Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 silEnT MOD ftw. There is literally nothing other than the PPSH which I don't like about it.. And even then; that gun doesn't have to be enabled Every other mod, I have at least a hand full of complaints about - but not silEnT It's suave! Quote
