Mac OS X Enemy Territory Help

Good choice in computers, although not really the best for gaming.

If you have any troubles with you mac, post them here. I'll help you out!

I'll add more to this when i encounter more problems.

Common Problems

Incorrect ET version?

Download ET 2.60c, the the 2.60d patches availiable from www.wolfmap.de

Can't save your config as .cfg with text edit?

Download TextWrangler, a freeware text/html editor.

PB doesn't start. Getting kicked for PB INIT FAILURE, PB heartbeats stopped

Download the PB client from www.evenbalance.com, and install it in the Mac HD/users/your username/library/application support/Wolfenstein ET

Cannot play on EtPRo with the 2.60d patch?

Easy. just download the 2.60b version, and don't patch it. ETPro hasn't been updated to allow the new patch. Make 2 separate installs, by changing the default install location of the new version.

PB GUID AUTH UNKN

This is a tough cookie. So far, the only surefire thing that works for me is to start ET, load the mod i want to play(jaymod/NQ/ETpro) and type the following:

/pb_cdkeyreg
/pb_Cdkeyver
/pb_cdkeyverauto 1
/pb_writecfg

The guid auth applies to windows/linux if your having the same problems too.

i have linux too :P Its more of a pain to set up than mac. Took me 3 days of nonstop googling to set up ubuntu, so i switched to redhat, that pissed me off so now im runnin a convoluted arch linux with some code my dad made.

With mac its mostly a matter of getting the correct versions of stuff. ET loves mac, but PB doesn't :/

I save all my demo's to another HD so i can import them to Final Cut Pro. Mac vid editing is cake compared to windows

What version of ET you are using? It should say when you drop the console down.

2.60c

Can you try to install 2.60d patch?

http://www.wolfmap.de/comments.php?news_id=698

And see if it works for you.

Does MAC supports team viewer? If yes set up remote desktop so I can see what's the issue.

My only complaint about ET on my Mac Pro which I love dearly is that I can never find screenshots/demos so I end up having to take them using built-in or downloaded software.

Apart from the fact that this thread is more than half a year old, you could take screenshots with OS X's inbuilt tool by pressing Cmd+Shift+3. It will save them automatically to your desktop.

Download TextWrangler, a freeware text/html editor.

TextEdit, by default, edits in RTF (Rich Text Format). If you want to use it for a .cfg file, you need to switch it over to a plain-text mode with Command-shift-t. It'll pop up a warning saying you'll loose your formatting, but you don't use formatting for configs anyway. ;)

Sorry for late answer but try to find them in

/Users/xxx/Library/Application Support Wolfenstein ET/jaymod/screenshots/

condumps, demos and you cfg are also saved in this jaymod folder.
