Or you can just press escape before the black-screen-thing loads.

Or disable javascript would probably do it since it seems to be an onload event :P

Just try out a new language... In the end it's all about education. :D

But I would love to know how many pupils in the US won't do their homework with the excuse "Wikipedia was down".^^

I didn't see the black page first because NoScript (firefox addon) was blocking it, I just allowed it because I totally agree with the action XD.

Since when do politicans really care if people are for a bill or against it

Politicians care about staying popular and getting reelected. I read today that a few senators have already switched from being pro to against SOPA/PIPA because of all the pressure and controversy surrounding the issue. In this case I think the opinion of the people does make a difference. From what I see, SOPA will fail now, but similar bills are in our future...

Anyway...I start college in the fall, how am I gonna do my homework without Wikipedia?!

You can do your homework with Wikipedia, unless you VOTE AGAINST SOPA!!

Unbelievable, politicians really care for the voice of the people? :hmm

Let's hope more will follow their example and that SOPA/PIPA will fail.

Who the hell can live on the internet without facebook, youtube, music, etc..

My victory quote V

"SOPA was about pass, until it took an arrow to the knee"

Facebook=waste of time was cool before everyone including everyones mother joined it, time to let it die a slow painful death. Youtube has been sucking **** ever since it put ads before and if the video is longer then 10 minutes now most of them have an add in the middle. I pay for my music since most of the artists that I listen to are not millionaires. I really don't feel like typing it all up but in short SOPA is not there to mess with the individuals but to get rid of the big criminal run counterfeit operations. Most user content driven sites that exploit lets say a small photographer or a small time musician could get away with it until now by sending in a hord of lawyers and making the life very difficult for that person instead of paying dues and royalties to the guy or gal. In the end USA is the land of the capitalism and this law is just another example of that. They cried about the Patriot act but I still didn't see 100's of thousand of Americans in Guantanamo. In the end like I said it doesn't affect me since I am Canadian but it bugs the hell out of me when so many misinterpret something thats there for a greater good. What people and politicians in USA lack are actual and factual information on the subject.

Theres still IP Protect which will break the shit out of the internet, If it passes, most users out of NA wouldn't be able to access these forums, Fearless Assassins can be shut down and sued, etc, etc, SOPA comes with IP Protect, If you do not vote against it, I assure you the government will keep a close-eye on money-making forums as shown on a video.

I gotta agree with Facebook and Youtube statements, and I fully agree with what SOPA is supposed to be about.. Just like I fully agree with detaining terrorists indefinitely.. But these kinds of things never work perfectly and are commonly abused, and just that, is what I disagree with. Any bill which - if abused - causes loss of human rights and freedom, I am wary of, purely because I know that in the wrong hands, it will not be used correctly. And when discussing politicians, I fail to pick out many (if any) names who I can say I trust with the power they have.

Agreed, without the features internet has to offer, It'll be like the 1900's again.

If you can not trust your government even a bit you have 2 options live "off grid" somewhere in the forest, or lead a revolution and since most people are big on talk they generally lack balls to do something to change it. Blacking out websites only hurts the people that use them and has little effect on anything else.

I was using the internet in the early 90's when only way to get online was through a dial up modem and pages to minutes to load, there was no youtube facebook or file sharing sites, it was full of message boards where you went and shared your ideas. Youth now take everything for granted and everytime there is a little change they cry like they gonna go back to stoneage.

Give me a fleet of 200-gun warships & 8000 men and I will travel the high seas of this democracy, through to internetional waters, and defeat these pirates! Ahoi I say! What's a piece of paper to C'ptain 'fang and his fellow boucaneers when he has pieces of eights to be a' trawling!

Argh I say, I'll take me crew to the far ends of the seas, and find the leader of the cursed "Pirate Bay", there I will smote off his 'ead with me cutlass and shaving razor 'n bring it to the King of Narnia, Aslan! And if ye dare to mutiny on the C'ptain & call the 'rates, ye shall walk the plank made from the Trojan Horse into the pit of rootkits.

What say you?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, as I was saying, what's all this stuff about the bill/law? If you start cutting down the main info websites (like wiki), wouldn't there be even more disputes with smaller specialised websites and databases with where they actually got their information from?

And if you can access certain sites by typing in the IP address, how effective will it be in cutting down the people who really want specific information?

I can't imagine a world where I can't watch the Downfall Parodies, or listen to songs while I'm at college. Or browse Youtube!

As for Facebook, if they're liable for everyone, they'll be hawking over us like GO's BB.

Ahh, actually, what about the argument that people wouldn't have bought the music/games/film anyway, and that using it for free promotes the item in question?
