Cant join to any server ET:Legacy

Hi this is my first post and (as I tell to many FA:HC players) I'm having a very annoying issue with my game.

 

1   My problem begins with the game itself: Randomly when I start etl.exe^[1] the main menu runs with 1-2 FPS, even the background music sounds laggy, and of course the only solution is just Alt-F4 and restart again and again until the menu can show up fluently. that takes me to the next issue:

 

2 Then I always connect to hc.clan-fa.com but whenever I connect (also happens with other servers), the game takes a lot to load (about 30-60 seconds) and may randomly crash and when the load completes (yeah, i have to wait about 1 minute to finally look how the game closes without crash output).

 

Things that I've tried:  Setting all configs to default, switching ETL renderers, reinstalling/uninstalling, running as admin, changing permissions, look for openGL compatibility, modifying Windows registry, everything..

 

^[1]:  I'm using ETL because the old ET had the same menu issue before, and I couldn't fix it but ETL seems to work,.. except for that.

 

I'm running Windows 10 - 64 bit, 4GB RAM - Intel Inside - Intel HD Integrated Card - Notebook

 

(this issue began with a random Win10 update, also other openGL based programs like Blender also had FPS issues but no so problematic like this one)

There are some days that my game crashes like 10 times before I connect to a server (and i play laggy).

• First I would suggest uninstalling the last random windows update. In windows update ...view installed updates history and uninstall the last "random" one of which you speak.

Right click ET Legacy\Properties\Compatibility, uncheck all boxes. Don't run as administrator.

Make sure *pak0.pk3*, *pak1.pk3* and *pak2.pk3* are contained in: (Windows 64-bit): C:\Program Files (x86)\Enemy Territory - Legacy\etmain

 

The ET Legacy installer should've asked you whether you want to install omnibot and W:ET assets. Which would be yes. It is possible this option box was unchecked so these files were not installed. You can get those files by either installing the old 2.60b game and moving them manually (unless you still have it installed move them but corrupt mod assets is a possibility) or you reinstall ET Legacy and make sure the "install omnibot and W:ET assets" is checked. (Don’t try to overwrite a previous ET Legacy version - Uninstall first).

• Well about the update.. Windows doesn't allow me to revert back to a previous version (that's because it was installed like 6 months ago and you can only revert updates that were installed 10 days ago).
• The other things you mentioned are done (I've stared ET with the compatibility either enabled or disabled and nothing seemed to work)
• I will try the third suggestion, but I don't think if Omnibot is fully compatible with ET:legacy, also I've installed that version because the vanilla 2.60b didn't worked for me (believe me I've installed the vanilla version before and it runs worse than Legacy)

Anyway I will take a look and post my results here, Thanks for your time

Yeah about that.. I would have to record a video because a single ss doesn't reveal so much and the console log doesn't show nothing really helpful, sorry:(

(I think it could be something related to OpenGL in windows10, because other apps like Blender, C4D and some old fashion games also run pretty bad)

I've installed that version because the vanilla 2.60b didn't worked for me (believe me I've installed the vanilla version before and it runs worse than Legacy)

 

I have the exact same issue as you with ETLegacy. I also have the issue with the original ET - it runs fine on 2.55, but when I patch it to 2.6b, it lags even more than Legacy.

 

I'm no help with Legacy as I've tried all that you have and more, but with 2.6b, you might try r_primitives 1. When I first encountered the issue I tried r_primitives 2 to no avail, but I've never heard of anyone using 1, so I didn't consider it. With r_primitives 1, 2.6b is at least playable - I get an unstable ~100 FPS.

Doing some googling I'm beginning to suspect the random update you mention is the famous "Windows Creator Update". Found lots of reports of people with issues regarding Intel HD(4000) and openGL (example).

Have you tried to update/revert your video card drivers yet?

So you say that using the vanilla 2.55 should  fix the problem? well if that is the case I'll try it.

Also I've never tried setting r_primitives to 1, because all forums and answers tell me that I should set it to 2, but well thanks for that and i will post if I see any changes, Thanks for your time.

Yes! I installed the Falls Creators Update (thing I regret have installed it) and everything went wrong, but the thing is that I can't revert back to Anniversary Update, the download is not available anymore at windows website, I think I will have to wait for Microsoft to fix that..

to add servers go to the menu  tools options  servers  add now this is the funny part of this sometimes the words for the server work like hc.clan-fa.com but if i was you i would us the ip just don't forget the : after the ip before the port run et starter pro has admin

and i thought the w10 update ..changed ur nvidia or ati settings..

 

intel integrated gpu.. hum..  what driver u running . i would try this first uninstall driver reinstall.if i take out my gpu i get same problem u say.

 

and i think u sir have a fubar cfg and install... can u upload it to forums!thanks. also can u go load etded . and tell us what error u get.

 

 

u ever check ur rate ur maxpackets.. and hunkmegs?

 

ur rate should be between 13000 and 45000  stock is 4000

 

ur maxpackets should be between 30 and 100  stock is 15

 

hunkMegs should be 128 or more..stock is 56

 

thesethings along will cause said problems.

Hi i had the problem too!

Well i fixed it by updating my drivers with dirvers booster / PRO u can get a license key from youtube or search the internet for the PRO license key

but you  dont need the PRO version

 

then UNINSTALL Wolf:ET FULLY and reinstall it

 

and replace ur "etded" file with this (in the file location of Wolf:ET)

P.S Try running the game with admin rights
