Hello, having weird colors when playing ET ... started when I was experimenting with cvar r_trisColor "1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0" (wanted to learn its purpose). I changed the 1st value to 1.5, started the game, and since then I cant get normal colors again. I didnt saw any problems in other games, or windows, so I am pretty sure it isn't some kind of hardware failure.

I deleted my profiles in etmain and jaymod maps, but didn't help either.

try /reset r_trisColor & than /vid_restart

wait a sec when you just type /r_trisColor in console without any value shouldn't it show your current value and what's the default? Check that and simpy put the default value?

try /reset r_trisColor & than /vid_restart

No luck ....

The value is at its default. I reinstalled the game, started with my config again (with r_triscolor default value) and no luck. Any other cvar that can do this?

No luck ....

r_trisColor Sets colour for r_tris, usage: r_triscolor r g b a

try every combination example /r_triscolor r than /vid_restart, see that if not /r_triscolor g ...... you know what i mean

Aa or maybe it's just seta r_clear "0" ??

I remember having similair issue only my colours were just red & pink i think i solved it with r_clear 0 but I'm not 100% sure :/

I worked around the issue with fresh install, but I will gradually introduce my settings to see what caused such a mess. One day it may help someone. No need for further guesses, will post solution (eventually). Thank you xpboom :)

Whenever you make changes to your config and then you try to go back to your original config and those changes don't go back, you have to delete all the files in your profile folder in whichever mod you play in. Do that and cvar restart in game then restart the game and exec your config. That will reset everything to the default settings and when you reboot those files will rewrite themselves to the default settings and then when you exec your config it will load your settings.

Most people don't know about those files in your profile folder

Have you tried a /cvar_restart without any mods loaded? ie: at the start screen w/ the server browser?

Problem with some settings is that they can also take place in 'nested' config files. ie:

../etmain/profiles/%profilename%/etconfig.cfg

../jaymod/profiles/%profilename%/etconfig.cfg
../silent/profiles/%profilename%/etconfig.cfg
../nq/profiles/%profilename%/etconfig.cfg

So while you think the problem lies within the config file or etconfig file that's simply in the mod directory, that can be not the case.

in any case I dont know the solution except to reset that setting but in any case if I have such a issue my experience to really solve anything pm annibal :P

what you can try is /exec etconfig but the downside of this letterly everything will be resetted xp name and settings but if you actually already deleted ET and reinstalled my guess it's something in your cfg because if you reinstalled enemy territory you basicly have a fresh start if you still have that error is must be either something in your cfg on something you setted on your computer
seems impossible if you do either /exec etconfig or reinstall the game and save only your etkey the error still occures
however since its a graphic error and you just reinstalled et try /r_primitives 1 or 2  1 is good 1 not you notice right away but I believe its either a setting in your cfg. or something you setted on your pc its unlikely you get the same error after reinstalling ET because you basicly start all over again

/exec'ing etconfig would simply exec the current settings that are problematic.

/cvar_restart is the only option to reset to the default settings.

if you exec etconfig you simply delete all settings xp and name and load basic ET settings but as mentioned the downside is that you lose everything

but since he deleted and reinstalled ET It have to be either some setting in his cfg or something he enabled or added on his  pc because if you delete / reinstall it should be back to basic settings

but in any case best advice I can think of is to pm annibal :P because in my case he always knew how to fix any issue on my pc lol

but I am certainly not a pro in these kind of things 9 out of 10 times eventually I still end with ask annibal -_-

Pretty much what I posted above

Never tried these settings, but one place to check when reinstalling didn't help: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Punkbuster\ET

You need to set the hidden folders visible first.

There should not be much of a stuff in that ET folder, but who knows.
