Ol Smoke Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 1. Microsoft Security Essentials. A. Will stop 98% of all viruses attacking your computer. Has a great firewall. B. It's free. And it doesn't block internet or network printers from working. 2. Buy and install the Premium-Version of Malwarebytes® . Protects from malware, spyware, Trojans, etc. It goes great with MSE to stop the other stuff. $24.95 comes with 3 licenses. One year. 3. Download and install SuperAntiSpyware®. All you need is the free version. These three programs will work better than any $50 AV program. . 2 Quote
SiD Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 3 things I use most: Free Malwarebytes Free Superantispyware Common sense I haven't had any paid programs in a few years, or a proper antivirus and I've been relatively clean. Outside of the generic tracking cookies. I've learned a lot through infection and loss. Hah. Those with lesser experience I would definitely recommend the post above. MWB (paid) + SAS are pretty powerful tools. 1 Quote
Anton Chigurh Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Mentioned above : common sense Dont click on stuff you dont know or download from websites you dont know. Free programs that work very well are Avast free Emsisoft online armor free and also mentioned above Malwarebytes Free if you run into issues. @Mel, even with a mac you can run into troubles. Quote

Administrators daredevil Posted January 15, 2015 Administrators Posted January 15, 2015 sorry Daredevil but not Frontier. It is $4 per month. The last time I looked. Sometimes Norton is available for 20$ for 5 PC's. It has always worked for me. But lately I just use SSD everywhere. Runs fast and no HD IO issues and battery life shoots up by 30% on my laptop. I don't have comcast anymore or I would give you my username and password to download norton for free... I will let you know once I see again for that price. It's always around year end or so, I see cheap prices for next year versions. is this paid? http://frontier.com/helpcenter/frontiersecure/computer-security/where-can-i-go-to-download-computer-security- Just did quick google. meow Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Spybot S&D, anyone still use that? I used to until I bought my new SSD. I got Free AVG and never get anything, if I do it pops up and deletes/blocks it. And I run CCleaner once in a while. Quote
SiD Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Also, using browser addons tends to help. adblockplus is amazing and supports a variety of browsers. Script blocking addons like No Script for Firefox allows you to stop flash players and video from playing unless it's from a website you trust. 1 Quote
