Popular Post Antichrist Posted April 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) So I had this old bowl from way back... And here it is originally: And the other day I was thinking how its just played out. The ying yang logo. I mean it's printed on paper and just rolled in the acrylic tube. Not to mention it's all pink, and has some resin marks from previous cleanings. And it just looked somewhat immature to me. So I thought to myself, I have some Oak in the yard (At least I'm pretty sure it's oak lol), and I had a longer rod out in the garage, so I got started. Here's a pic just after I started whittling: So then things went along, and I came up with this: So of course things kept progressing steadily. And I've only been using a razor blade knife for this: And still even further, and this is still only using the razor blade: And now assembled to see how much I have to trim the inner rod: Now the sanding begins: I sanded with 60, 80, 120, and finished with 320, and now here it is all assembled: I'm not sure if I want to leave it natural and just add a protective coating, or if I'm going to stain it. But for now.. it's done. It's not perfect and it has a few flaws, but here it is Edited April 23, 2014 by Antichrist 10 Quote
Xernicus Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Absolutely beautiful piece of art. I've done some restoration on mine recently to prevent cracking and pitting from extending, re-grinding the bowl slightly (it's wood), sanded down the edges, did some plastic molding for a new mouthpiece... Oh, and before I forget, I did a pretty good (I only used duct tape to tape off the areas I didn't want stained) pattern staining job. Oak -> Pine -> Oak.... I think you get the picture. I'll have to upload a pic of it. 1 Quote

000 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 LoooL when i see topic tittle i think you mean this!! That made me laugh. hehehe I don't smoke or understand anything about technical details on pipes but it's a nice handmade work, it looks nice. Thinking about decorating or customizing it? Good luck and use it wisely, my friend. 1 Quote

Now I'm just hand polishing the wood with a beeswax base wax, and I'm going to leave it natural. At least for now And absolutely no to decorating lol. Edited April 23, 2014 by Antichrist 2 Quote

Antichrist Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Looks great, but why are you smoking from that... Thats so old school Honestly, I am not currently smoking anything from it, or anything else lol. (I have a nice glass waterpipe for proper usage) That was my very first bowl when I started, it's about 20 years old now, and was a gift from a friend back then. So it has a little sentimental value, but the ying yang thing on the pink background just seems to slur "pot head". Instead.. I wanted my update to eloquently state "Cannabis user". Next, I'm going to attempt to hand carve an all wood pipe. I just need to get my hands on some Brier, or I'd love to use Cherry also. Quote
