Chameleon Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I have used the opposite side of the keyboard since I started playing first person shooters.. I use the arrow keys and bind everything to that side of the keyboard.. My question then is, getting a script would do me no good at all would it? I mean a script would have everything bound to the opposite side as me, like with the wsad keys? Or is it something I could tweak from my side? Quote

I'm also playing with the arrow- and numpad keys! Back then in 1993 (wtf really playin this shit since ~20 years...!?) we had to play Doom 1+2 with keyboard only and couldn't even rebind keys as we wanted, that was just normal and everyone had to play on that setup. Then in 1996 the 3D mousecontrol was kind of officially introduced with Quake 1, many players even laughed at it in the beginning! But the force of habit got most of these old men still playing with the arrowside...and therefore needing the double space on tables at LAN I always do remember that when there's a keyboard layout w/e discussion and I just can't resist to tell this story! b2t Edited February 7, 2013 by S3ti Quote

I'm sure if you post your full autoexec cfg on to these forums and someone would will get you set up. Quote

Problem is, it limits your abilities SO much.. There just arent enough usable keys over there.. I definitely recommend making the switch to WSAD! Quote

I' m so used to it and never have felt the need to go back to the WASD layout again being a junior level typist. Quote

NoGooD Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Hey Chr0n, if you feel comfortable making changes to a text file (which is all a cfg really is), you can use the windows notepad or better yet Notepad++ and just change what keys are used to control your movements from WASD to the arrow keys. A graphic's config, which automatically sets your graphics for you, usually to a lower setting to get your FPS as smooth and high as possible requires no changes to your current key setup. Then you simply place it in your etmain folder and open in while in game using your console. Usually with a syntax like /exec chr0n.cfg Quote
