Obama is a good president? Do you not like the ability to protect yourself? Do you really want to have the government to make decisions for you? Only reason he is still in office is because of his handouts.

This guy does a good job articulating the current political situation concerning guns and freedom.

Ehm, most people that "protect" themselves are white. Let me break it down. White guy goes in buys a gun, black guy breaks in and steals that gun shoots white kid with it. Nah I just kid. Black people shoot other black people most of the time. White kids with mental issues shoot other white kids en mass. The only reason that he was elected is because the other guy from the other party was made out for a big ass liar. Lets face it Republicans have been sabotaging him since the get go and so far he has been very polite in calling them out. I foresee the time where Republicans will no longer be called to the big league debates and are going to be relegated to the minor leagues of the green and communist party. As someone that works and travels through the US and Canada I have the real pulse of the people and people want less guns and tougher gun laws. In Canada we own around 10 million guns which means 1 out of every 3 people have a gun and you simply do not see the amount of gun related crimes as US does. Hell even Serbia which ranks 2nd in the world in gun ownership does not even come close to the amount of the gun crimes that happens in the US.

I'm going to have to call B.S. Joe. I do not know a single person IRL that thinks that the government telling anyone what they can and can not spend their money on or what kind of firearms you legally own is a good idea. A lot of us agree that better enforcement of existing gun laws needs to be addressed, but the founding principals of this country are that the people are the ultimate check and balance to the government and that the people as a whole are the militia and should be armed as to the style of the armies of the time. meaning that if the government feels it is necessary to own a Abrams tank, then if it is within my means to buy one it,s my right. Not saying that I think it's a prudent course of action to by a Abrams tank, but if you wanted one it should be ok. What about the thousands of us that are living historians, We not only deal with the wars of the black powder era, we also do WW1,WW2,and most other modern wars. I guess what I'm trying to say is tread lightly because its a slippery slope to totalitarianism when we start running to the government safety blanket every time someone says Boo, If we allow our freedoms to be taken away for any reason, what is to stop the total abrogation of the constitution and the end of liberty in America.

I'm 37. I have memories and stories passed down to me since Ford was in the White House. I've witnessed the decisions and consequences of my elder relatives and I learned, to an extent, about the political and economic factors that influenced those decisions and consequences. In my opinion, nothing has changed. Despite which party holds the legislative or executive branches, you still have to do the same as you and every other World citizen past and present has ever had to do: Succeed in life by learning knowledge/skills/trades during youth, working hard during adulthood and saving for your old age. No matter who is in charge of the country, You are in charge of You. You decide how much to save and spend. You decide how much you apply yourself to work and studies. You decide to over-achieve or slide by. In reality, the government has very little to do with the outcome of your life. But rather than take responsibility and adjust lifestyle and budget accordingly, people would rather pass the buck to the Government. The Government is doing this! The government is doing that! The end is near! Hogwash!

People say Reagan was a great president and that Obama is the worst ever. I lived during both periods. Nothing changed. Back then, like now, we still had to work hard and save up for the future as best as we could. The government was no more of a help or hindrance then, now or at any other time.

What people are shouting about are their distractions (annoyances): War, taxes, guns, gays, abortion, illegals and foreign aid among others. And to me, they are minor in the scheme of things. Minor, because they have no bearing on the choices you make with your life. No matter how high taxes go, you still have to live within your means and provide for future and family. No matter what war we are in or how many kids got killed or how many illegal gay muslims are getting married in the bible belt, you STILL have to do what's right for you and yours. And those distractions have nothing to do with it. So get over them and focus! Of course, if you just love to be angry and rant against "evil" in the company of those who agree with you... it's a free country.

This ain't 1787, instead of arming yourself to the teeth save that thousand bucks for your sons education, restore a car. Every time someone talks about the constitution and people being the ultimate check and balance of the government they forget what era that document comes from and issues facing those people. Yes government is suppose to tell you what you can and can't do with your money because majority lacks common sense these days and this my friend is evident day in and day out. You don't know what totalitarianism is yet you throw it around so lightly. I do not feel like typing a novel tonight so let me put it to you this way. The US government has no interest in taking your freedom away, why because you have no complete freedom you have laws that restrict that said freedom and out of anarchy creates a semi civilized society.

Regan had savings and loan crisis where he had to bail out savings and loan companies, this contributed to the large budged deficits in the 1990's. Bush had the banks and brokers, hell there were 2 real estate bubbles under last 3 Republican presidents. Every period of Republican deregulation has let to massive financial crises. And they say Obama is the worst because he actually saved real jobs. So when someone tells you that Regan was the greatest you tell them they are full of shit. Only thing that Regan was good at was acting.

I believe in the founding documents of the republic and have swore an oath to defend them and our country from enemies both foreign and domestic. You are right about the lack of common sense these days, and that is why the founding fathers wrote those documents the way they did, To insure that the future generations that have not had to face the evils of a oppressive government as they did, The idea that it is ok for any government to dictate what you spend you money on is a kin to slave labor.IE: you have to take our insurance or we will penalize you, You can't eat trans fatty acids, were does it end? I do know what totalitarianism is I am not one of those people that just sits and watches the talking heads all day and repeats it like my own opinion. I do not know where you come from but here you need to be able to defend your self and family and property because the police are not coming. The Inner city police forces have pushed the drug gangs and violence out here and the police presence has actually decreased due to funding cuts. On average its about an half-hour to hour response time for PD assistance, So yea I fell better owning guns, that said I do not own an AR/AK, but if I want one its within my rights to have one. The people that say you don't need guns for protection are surrounded by them constantly and some of them actually care. So I ask why is there life anymore important than your.
