Waffles Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Does anyone know a good webhosting service? That has a free plan. It'll be better if it had an unlimited bandwidth, as a free plan. I have tried finding some but most of them are shut down. Anyone know a few? Quote
Chuckun Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) First thing you need to know is there's no such thing as unlimited, and no such thing as good free hosting. I can't tell you of any free hosts because I haven't used one since I was about 12 However, I would say that any offering 'unlimited' are probably the most likely to give you problems. Look for one with a max of 5gb space and 20gb bandwidth.. For a free service anything more than that will be shabby. EDIT: I just found the one I used years ago (I THINK - sounds very familiar anyway).. http://www.5gbfree.com/ I hosted a small community running PhpNuke on that with no problems Which is pretty good for a free host. ajnl Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Hey, like Chuck said there is no such thing as unlimited and free good webhosts don't exist. The one I used while teaching myself web design was this: 000space It also has 5gb space and 20gb bandwidth. At the time, I had no problems with it. You should look at other web hosts though, they are not that expensive ($5 to $10 a month). Godaddy Oh it is also possible to reduce the price by using getting one with .net, .us, .org. Instead of getting a .com Edited August 17, 2012 by ajnl Quote

If you're looking for cheap hosting that you wont demand much of then I'd steer more towards hostgator.. Who I have used a lot (and still do for a few sites). Hostgator actually copes very well with low to low/medium scale websites.. But if you're looking to run anything more than medium scale, you'd have to look towards a VPS. ajnl Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Godaddy is nothing but trouble.. Seriously? What happened? I've used bluehost, have you had any experience from them? Personally, I thought they were ok, but then again I never had to use their customer support. Quote

But GoDaddy have serious setup problems with Apache and other things but I don't remember specifically.. A quick google search shows all though: http://www.google.com/search?q=problems+with+godaddy Quote

I guess don't go with Godaddy if you do end up paying for one! Quote
Revenant Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I've been using http://www.powweb.com for probably the past 10 years for my website(s). They're pretty reliable, offer "unlimited space" and "unlimited bandwidth" -- currently on sale for $3.88/mo (regularly $8/mo). Quote
Glyphz Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 the free webhosting sites that I know of are bravenet, yola, moonfruit, ucoz, wix and many more I dont think you will ever find a unlimited free plan, and im sure you will find a good plan on unlimited for a good price I think bravenet is like 8 dollars a month for unlimited I would just play around with each one of there free plans and then figure out which that you like most and go with there starter or premium plan Quote
