anyone have a telescope?

I have a Meade Polaris 127. It is on an EQ mount. I like having to navigate the night sky, and star charts instead of having a telescope with software that does it. I currently live in Northern AZ and the night skies are fantastic here. I am looking into getting into astrophotography, but it looks complicated/expensive and it is a little discouraging. Anyone else peruse the night sky?

I haven't been able to purchase a telescope, though I live in central Texas and I, too, love driving out into the country and gazing upon constellations and planets. Even tonight, driving out to see Saturn rise and set just before sunrise around 4:35-6:00. I envy your place in Arizona because you're in close proximity to Arizona State University, where astrophysics is a nice study. I can appreciate the want to navigate on your own accord rather than having software assistance. Nothing wrong with keeping it traditional, as you get to view more beauty that way. Keep looking up!

Do radiotelescopes count? I do not own one, but I worked on making one last year on uni. Never got around to testing it, but correlating the signals from the antenna's seemed to work.

Telescopes seem cooler though, since you can actually directly see what you are trying to observe :P.

I have always wanted a telescope, now that you bring it up I will probably make some plans for me to get one.

I used in the high school back on 2010 a Meade 90mm infinity refractor telescope, really good experience, saw the starts from Orion and also its nebula from what I remember.

Space is fascinating, just tripping on how far are those places! :D
