  3. SpaceX will have to wait a few days to make history. Elon Musk's company was scheduled to launch its first-ever crewed mission, a test flight to the International Space Station (ISS) called Demo-2, this afternoon (May 27) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. But bad weather has nixed that plan, pushing the liftoff back to Saturday (May 30) at the earliest, NASA and SpaceX officials announced today. "We continue to violate a couple different weather rules that we now do not expect to clear in time to allow for a launch today," SpaceX launch director Mike Taylor said about 20 minutes before the planned liftoff. "We’re going to go ahead and end today’s launch attempt." The crew access arm swings away from the Demo-2 SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule on May 27, 2020. Bad weather nixed a planned liftoff on that day.(Image: © NASA TV) Saturday's launch would occur at 3:22 p.m. EDT (1922 GMT). If that doesn't work out, SpaceX could try again on Sunday (May 31) at 3 p.m. EDT (1900 GMT). (Demo-2 has an instantaneous launch window; the capsule must launch at a specific time, when the space station is at a certain spot in its orbital path.) Demo-2 will send NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the ISS aboard SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule. The mission will be a milestone for the entire nation as well as for SpaceX: no orbital human spaceflight has launched from the U.S. since NASA retired its space shuttle fleet in July 2011. Since then, Russian Soyuz spacecraft have been astronauts' only rides to and from the ISS, at a cost (most recently) of about $90 million per seat. NASA isn't thrilled with this dependence and is counting on SpaceX and Boeing to break it. In 2014, the two companies signed multibillion-dollar contracts with NASA's Commercial Crew Program to complete development of their astronaut taxis and fly six operational missions to and from the ISS for the agency. Demo-2 is the last big hurdle SpaceX must clear before it can start those contracted flights. Boeing still has some work to do before its vehicle, a capsule called CST-100 Starliner, can carry astronauts. Starliner did not manage to rendezvous with the space station as planned during an uncrewed test flight this past December; Boeing will refly that mission before attempting a crewed flight. SpaceX aced its uncrewed ISS flight, a mission called Demo-1, in March of 2019. The company performed another critical uncrewed flight test in January of this year, demonstrating Crew Dragon's emergency-escape system, which is designed to blast astronauts to safety in the event of a problem during launch. This latter test was a dramatic affair, involving the intentional destruction of one of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rockets mid-flight.
  4. Two veteran NASA astronauts are ready and excited to launch from Florida to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX spacecraft this week. But who are they? On Wednesday (May 27) at 4:33 p.m. EDT (2033 GMT), astronauts Robert "Bob" Behnken and Douglas "Doug" Hurley will strap into a Crew Dragon vehicle atop a Falcon 9 rocket and launch into space from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It's all part of SpaceX's Demo-2 mission, the first crewed test flight of the company's Crew Dragon spacecraft. Both astronauts have extensive flying experience and have flown to space on multiple missions. 5. I would be interested in any style except rap, hip hop and regaetton also some new pop songs are creepy. I usually listen to rock (metal, progressive and psychedelic), trance (psychedelic, progressive, house, some techno), chill, ambient, dub, classical music, reggae and why not some 60's to 80's hits as well. I think its a nice topic but it could be lost in time cause is not the correct section. Also theres an interesting poll here:
  6. No showstoppers were found during a crucial flight readiness review (FRR) for SpaceX's Demo-2 mission, keeping the company's first-ever crewed flight on track for a May 27 liftoff, NASA officials announced today (May 22). "The Flight Readiness Review has concluded, and NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission is cleared to proceed toward liftoff on the first crewed flight of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program," NASA officials wrote in an update today. SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule sits ready for launch atop a Falcon 9 rocket on Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On Wednesday (May 27), two NASA astronauts will launch to the International Space Station for the first crewed test flight of a Crew Dragon spacecraft. The Crew Dragon and Falcon 9 rocket reached the launch site on Thursday (May 21). (Image: © SpaceX) Demo-2 will send NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule, which will launch atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. The mission will be the first orbital human spaceflight to depart from American soil since NASA retired its space shuttle fleet in July 2011. Ever since then, the space agency has relied completely on Russian Soyuz rockets and spacecraft to get its astronauts to and from the orbiting lab. NASA is counting on SpaceX and Boeing to end that dependence. In 2014, the agency awarded SpaceX $2.6 billion to finish development of the Crew Dragon-Falcon 9 system and fly six operational crewed missions to the ISS. Boeing got a similar, $4.2 billion deal at the same time, which the aerospace company will fulfill using a capsule called CST-100 Starliner. "It was an excellent review," NASA associate administrator Steve Jurczyk said during a teleconference with reporters today. "There are no significant open issues, I am happy to report." But there are still some boxes to tick before Demo-2 can get off the ground. For example, this afternoon, SpaceX will conduct a "static fire" of the Falcon 9 that will launch the mission, testing out its first-stage engines while the rocket remains tethered to the ground. And tomorrow (May 23), the teams will hold a "dry dress" exercise, during which Behnken and Hurley will suit up and the teams will run through many of the procedures that will occur on launch day. Data from these two tests, as well as other information, will then be analyzed in detail on Monday (May 25) during a final launch readiness review. "We're going to stay vigilant over the next few days," Kathy Lueders, NASA's Commercial Crew Program manager, said during today's telecon. "We're going to take it one step at a time, and we're going to still fly when we're ready." Videos and more: https://www.space.com/spacex-crew-dragon-demo-2-go-for-launch.html
  7. I give it this on 10/10 it makes you laugh, cry, be at the edge of the sit, suspense, etc. Definitely a +1 for this long timers.
  8. Ofcourse here relies the problem, governments and politicians dont give a damn about animal suffering because they like their scrambled eggs in the morning and rib eye steak at the evening then maybe a sandwich by dinner. We have being "programmed" to overeat animal source food, when human body by his ancestors are in need of some kind of protein but not in such excess. I followed a nutritionist before doing it and was guided in the correct steps because if you just do it unconsciously you can really be in big problems speaking in long term. Here in Mexico we are in stoneage in that matter so its like more of an impediment rather than having the chance of decision.
  9. Happy birthday! Nice day for you ed!
  10. Just played this map yesterday and for sure its a nice one, liked it very much, thanks and well done there @Smileyyy
  11. Very interesting information, didnt knew some. I practice vegetarianism for some years now and I say its a big challenge against a majority of world population that eats meat or even worse treat animals with disrespect, decided to go against that and dont be accomplice. Through time it has its cons and favors. I eat seafood occasionally and that because I live just next to the sea and local fish is normally cheaper than a good vegetable buy
