This error happens to me on jay2 mostly:

Unpure client detected. Invalid .PK3 files referenced!

Just in case anybody is still searching for another solution:

/vid_restart in console or restarting the whole game are common solutions. But the only solution that works for me so far is to move all .pk3 map files from etmain folder to any temporary folder, connect to the server again and put the maps back into etmain folder once i am connected for not having to download them again.

Please let me know if you got an easier solution or any idea why this solution is working. Sounds like a lack of memory to me :hmm

I have had that happen when I /disconnect from a server and then try to join it again immediately.  It has also happened when I have been dropped for some reason.

One solution is to click on the MODS tab in the ET Menu and reload the mod. Then you should be able to /connect to the server again.

Another solution is to join another server, disconnect and then connect to the server that gave you the error message.  This might work better if you join a server running a different mod and then try to reconnect.

If those methods don't work for you, it might be a problem particular to your installation.

BTW, I am told that Jay2 just had that Jaymod-Glitch again.  :(

(I had never tried that /vid_restart before, thanks for the tip :) )

I am beginning to wonder if we are getting the same or similarly-worded error statements from different causes.

Maybe I will look at the code and try understand what might cause this statement.

I've no idea why above solutions work, but the "Invalid .PK3's" error occured to players almost as always as the "Server disconnected for unknown reason" error. So the reasons why it happens and why the solutions work are so numerous that they probably wouldn't fit in my post... I never looked at the code, but I can fairly say that if it kicks you randomly (i.e. after map change, or when you try to reconnect after kicked) then your pk3 files are fine. /vid_restart + /reconnect mostly works.

Since it's not a real support thread maybe we'll share another similar errors we remember, so we know we're talking about the same problem.

game code(ui_mp_x86) failed pure server check
I don't remember why it occurs, but to fix it you need to run ET as administrator or install ET outside Program Files folder.

Download failure while getting xxx.pk3
The following packs are missing xxx.pk3

Known downloading problems, vid_restart might work, but there are different reasons of it happening.

Couldn't reopen ET\etmain\pak0.pk3
Couldn't open default cfg
Couldn't load an official pak file
These are more serious problems, and mostly result of lacking essential ET files or incorrect ET version...

cl_ParseServerMessage: Illegible Server Message 0
Someone just used script to kill the server or might be another pk3s issue.

Integrity failure

Cheater!

Hello!

My name is Rik. I'll be trying to help you with this issue. I have had the same problem for a long time, but I cannot for the life of me remember what I did to solve it.

Anyway, here goes.

  • Please make sure you connect using the right patch of ET. Using the wrong patch and after partially downloading files from a server with a different client, your client may be corrupted until the installed files are removed
  • Please try to clean your etmain ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain )folder and try again. If you delete your etkey file, which is located in this folder, you may need to download one again.
  • The etkey file may be corrupted. Download a different one (I believe FA has one in the download section(?)) and replace yours. To prevent corruption from the same source, it may be wise to reinstall prior to replacing your etkey.
  • Please make sure that you run your client using a proper compatibility mode. It may require some tweaking to find out which combination of settings is best for you. To do so, find your ET.exe and right-click it. After selecting Properties, go to the compatibility tab and start your tweaking. If I'm not mistaken, I used to run it with SP3 and in administration mode.
  • This has been stated already, but sometimes when you disconnect or reconnect from a server it corrupts the running client. Killing the client and starting it again should solve the problem if that is the case (until it occurs again, but this should still allow you to play).

Please let me know if anything helped. Don't forget to state which step has helped, if any, so that others may benefit from your reply.

Good luck!

Rik
