redy. Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) Hello everyone, Tutorial overview: we have different tools to ensure the fun on our servers. Team balance is one of the most important factors that dictate if people enjoy the game or not. Here a tutorial that talks about the tools you have to identify how fair the teams are. We will look into three different tools and go over the strengths and weaknesses. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Tool #1) !howfair !howfair can be used by level 4 and higher It uses the KR (Kill Ratio) of the players to identify the team balance. The more Kills compared to Deaths a player has, the higher his KR will be. !howfair example: Cons: The general critisism about howfair is, that it is based on KR. Which according to a part of the ET community is not the preferred way to identify team balance. Think about a good engineer. He will repair and build everything. He will have a lot of deaths but not a lot of kills. His KR will be low. Pros: The tool is easy to use and gives a simple to understand look of the team balance - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Tool #2) /scores /scores can be used by anyone on server. It is not related to admin level. Scores gives a list of data. It contains information about the players and some summed up data "called: Totals". Here a description of the /Scores columns: Team / Player / Kll (Kills) / Dth (Deaths) / Sui (Suicides /kill) / TK (Team kills) / Eff (Efficiency) / GP (Game Points) / DG (Damage given) / DR (Damage received) / TDG (Team damage given) / TDR (Team damage received) / Score (XP) /Scores example: Cons: Most of the data is based on the map and gets reset as soon as next map starts. If you want to make a decision if you should !shuffle at the beginning of the map, ensure you have last maps /score data. The amount of data can be overwhelming. Pros: The "Total" "Kll" and "Dth" are two very reliable indicator how the team is doing. If one team has many more kills it is most likely the stacked team. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Tool #3) Tab Clicking TAB can be used by anyone on server. It is not related to admin level. The TAB "team overview" is setup with three windows. They switch every 3-5 seconds. The windows show 1.) general XP, 2.) KR (Kill Ratio) and 3.) PRW (Player Rating) The PRW is a helpful statistic to identify the balance of teams. It is player based and shows how efficient a player is. This means even an engineer that focuses on repairing and building objects, can have a high PRW, even if he has more deaths than kills. Tab example: KR window: PRW window: Cons: There is no total PRW summary. Which means you need to review the individual PRW of the players in a team and compare them to the other team. Pros: The PRW rating consists of multiple parameter, not just Kills/Deaths like KR does. It is considered one of the most reliable statistics. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (***This tutorial is written with examples from our silent mod servers. Other mods may differ) Shutout: Thank you Krusnik87 for your help writing this tutorial! Edited March 30, 2018 by Fearless Staff 5 Quote

Vanaraud Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 !howfair should be the last in order and maybe even in () as it´s really misleading. Played yesterday 5 x 2+KD on my team and Zero + 2x 1.9KD on opposite team and got our asses handed to us by 100 less kills on our side. Also it´s important to take a look how far attacking team has advanced, even if attackers has 8+KD but they still sit in their spawn after 75% map time has passed, then teams are clearly unbalanced to the other side... Sry but just can´t stand it how ppl jump in server, check !howfair, and start spawnraping\camping the supposedly "stronger" team. Long story short, most important tool in any admin duty is- COMMON SENSE. 4 Quote

JohnTV Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Under #3, you have it listed as "PWR" (for power, lol) when it's actually PRW, referring to Player Rating. From Silent mod FAQ: Player Rating This is a measure of how much the player contributes to winning a map. This measure is calculated by seeing how many times this player is on the winning team after every map, and how good the opposing team was. Like kill rating, winning against teams with a high average player rating results in player rating increasing faster. 2 Quote

If one team is camped to death after spawn shield comes off, then teams are unbalanced, no matter what !howfair or players count tells you. 1 Quote

I will get this fixed. :* Quote
0siE. Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 It's a mix between : time / scores / who's attacking / noobs or skilled teams / is it fun or not ? / ... It depends...but I want to tell you : jay1 is probably the most difficult server to manage alone. haha osie Quote
