Last Christmas I bought myself a new mouse. Its has two buttons which allow me to switch between 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 and 4000 DPI. I like to play ET with (very) low mouse sensi. Most of you would find ET unplayable with my mouse sensi but that's the way I'm used to it.

At the moment I play using the lowest DPI (1000) and 1.0 mouse sensi in ET. Should I switch to 4000 DPI and lower my mouse sensi much below. Will it give me added precision ?

Thanks in advance for your advice !

Everything is fine as long as sensitivity in et doesn't go above +-3.5, after that more and more pixels might be skipped.

I'm always playing with lowest dpi available.

When deciding what DPI to use, you must take the game you are playing into account. Wolfenstein is unique in that it is a tracking game. To achieve success you must be able to track your target as smoothly as possible. The pursuit of "smooth" tracking aim has led many people to decrease their DPI to the lower end of the spectrum

  • Low DPI results in smoother tracking by eliminating small human errors in hand movement
  • High DPI results in more precise aiming by registering slight mouse movements

Edit: Firstly set dpi that you feel good with then sensitivity in-game.

As Shana said, keep the dpi low and you can aim more precise.

I have now 400 dpi (no Logitech application running with mx 518) and 1.5 sensitivity.

For compare, I have same mouse as RendeL does, but I have 1800 dpi and 0.3 sensitivity. :P

And that's why you suck :D

Not only it wouldn't give you more precision, but it would be bad if you move your mouse very fast (unless you use rinput)

Try to aim at some object, and put your mouse at the side of your mouse pad (while still aiming at that). Move it away very, very fast (as fast as you can), then without lifting it move it back slowly at the side of your pad.

If you aren't aiming at the same object as before, it means you have a problem.

people say that the perfect DPI is between 400 and 450, but really, up to ~1000 DPI is just fine.

I used to play 1000 DPI, ~2.5 sens, mouse accell. which was about 10cm/360

but as I have gotten rusty I am now using 800 DPI, 2.3 sens, no mouse accell. which is around 22cm/360

Kinda depends on what mouse you got. If it's equiped with drift control the dpi value should not be yer primary concern...

My mouse configuration is as follows

In my case I play with 400 dpi and my style of game is high sensitivity, so I play with 5.50 sensitivity in the game.

There are cases in which players seek to improve the precision raising the dpi and lowering sensitivity, in some cases some play with 3600 dpi and between 0.5 and 1.0 of sens, it all depends on how you feel more comfortable

This question was already answered and it's not "what are your dpi/sensitivity settings?"

At the moment I play using the lowest DPI (1000) and 1.0 mouse sensi in ET. Should I switch to 4000 DPI and lower my mouse sensi much below. Will it give me added precision ?

Thanks in advance for your advice !

Please do not "bump" if you have nothing to add concerning the requested matter.

If you are able to change your mouse refresh rate, 125 is very stable. Less errors in small movements compared to 500 or 1000hz.

Yes it makes your movement look like a bot, yes it will slow down your snap from a to b. You could snipe with smg long range if there was no spread..

I dont think there is right or wrong setting and added precision comes from experience and muscle memory.  All comes to own preferences afterall, play what you are comfortable with :)
