win 10 screws up everything

Well here I go, first when ive got window 10 my surround sound was flat with no bass at all, well disabled all sound programss and downloaded new ones, took me 2 hours to get everything right, well this is working now, but when i started ET another problem. In both sides i have black stripes, help me with that, please.

Hope i wont find anything else.

I've got the same problem with the black stripes and may I ask if you turn up your resolution does it make your mouse drift across the screen?

The charm i aint installing Win10, regardless of their annoying spam since two months to upgrade it,  will rather stick with win8 for a good period of time until i see everyone praising how win10 actually works decent for games.

Already heard that securom protected games no longer work with windows 10. So you either gotta find cracks or pirate them. Which is a bummer for some of those older games.

Have you tried resetting config(r_mode -1 etc)\gpu drivers? Make backup of current config!

From my understanding when people had similar issues it was in your graphics driver you had to turn something on or off. (When this problem was present in w7)

 

But before you go messing with your drivers:

 

Otherwise make sure you have these correctly set:
r_aspectratio

r_customaspect 

r_mode

r_customwidth

r_customheight

All this sounds more like an issue of settings and drivers rather than OS itself. The issue you describe for ET for example occured with previous versions of Windows countless times in the past for some people. In digging a bit in this section, you will find many threads with exactly the same than your under win7 and win8\8.1.. And they often solved their prob in changing some settings through their graphic panel or simply in re-installing their graphic driver.

i used the easiest way to get rid of this problem, uninstalled windows 10 and got back to 8

Me too. Windows 10 works like a charm since day one.

in nvidia control panel you can set the screen to be full.

As my PC is 8 yrs old, I'm looking into getting a new one. Most likely, the new one is offered with Windows 10 on it.

I've heard some people mention that Win10 gave them issues for playing ET, lags etc.

The post above seems to indicate that it runs well though, is that a correct understanding?

All advice is welcome. Win7, Win10? (all advice on pc too, intel core i5 or i7? 5820K?)

ET is important, that has to run smoothly.

But to answer;

windows 10 is fine for me, I've not seen any complaints either. ET also runs fine for me on W10.

 

As for parts, that's down to what they're needed for.

I5's are fine for gaming, depends if you need that extra power or not. I use my i7 for resource intensives programs (things like photoshop, after effects and premiere)
