Chameleon Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Douchebaggery and trolling on a whole new level.. The video is long, but I think all gamers should watch it.. 1 Quote
FireWienie Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Yeah, it bugs me how hackers can just find people's addresses, make a lie about keeping someone hostage... It's mind boggling honestly. 1 Quote
Chameleon Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 I hope the pricks who do this get everything they deserve when they get caught.. 2 Quote
Dontkillme Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Wooooooooow that crazy ... I'm sure daredevil have our back Quote
FireWienie Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Swatting occurs mostly when a certain individual is streaming. I'm pretty sure no one streams ET, and if they did there would not be too many viewers. If there were, it would be quite unlikely for one of them to be a hacker (or an a**h**** in general). Quote
Xernicus Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 We do have someone who streams on Twitch.TV and plays on our servers. A few people perhaps. I know I am considering it, though the rising occurrence of swatting makes me unsure... Perhaps with a VPN.I am not going to go into details of how swatting works (I am not here to teach people how to hack or commit crimes), but I will offer some tips to prevent it: Do not share your real name on a stream, or link a channel to your personal Facebook/G+/Myspace/whatever account Check your social media profiles and make sure that you have no contact information (email, skype, phone) available to people who are not trusted. If you have a website, make sure that the Whois and registration information is private. It costs extra (at your domain registration), but well worth it. If someone threatens you about "swatting", call 911/119/112 and let them know. This will prevent a raid, and land a prick in jail while you're at it. #wickedsick Most of all, stay cool, stay calm... stay safe. For those who might not understand that: Do not feed the troll(s). 2 Quote
SinfulRaevyn Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Nothing but stupid kids.. People wonder why the governments want to take control of the internet.. it's because of stupid kids like this.. They're miniature terrorists that think their actions have no consequences. :/ Lulzsec hacking major companies, Lizardsquad bomb threats, countless fake swat calls... All I can imagine is that there will come a time that you're going to see some sort of system in 20-30 years where ID is required to even browse the internet. -.- No one ever thinks of the future consequences.. it's all about the "lulz" 1 Quote

Depends how many viewers. The more the likely of a swatter. Who is the streamer? If he gets alot of views then maybe we should strike warning for him/her. 1 Quote
Xernicus Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Swatting isn't happening so much based on number of viewers... (though it can play a factor) It's usually someone who has gotten butthurt in game because they were pwned on air. As for your question... Not going to answer that in public forum. 2 Quote
gibson66 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 This is why gamers have a bad rep.... 3 Quote
FireWienie Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Makes sense Xern. I didn't think about it being a player, but I thought it would be a viewer who had gotten pissed or something. It always bugged me how people could get so excited over a video game... Quote
Vanaraud Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 In the old times kids used to run around and throw pricks through windows, now they have become too lazy to do it themselves and call "service" ? Also I wonder with dynamic IP-s and those being hard to obtained the only way to get location of victim is victims handling personal info carelessly in the internet? Quote
