Hey guys,

I have some problems with my cfg.

I always have this little screen with big black bars around. I used to have little black bars (that was fine). But now they are huge.

My screen looks like this, same size of ET but all the rest ar big black bars. This is minimized but when maximizing it's still the same but with black bars. Can anybody help me? ;)

That would be because your resolution in ET is the same size as that small window... now I remember back in 1998-2001 when there was a "Video BIOS" option to "stretch text" that would work perfectly... but those days are gone. Or at least I think they are :P

Solution? Change your resolution. ;)

/seta r_mode -1
/seta r_customheight 1600
seta r_customwidth 900

(Resolution cvars are examples from my config)

Whoops forgot something: (bumping this because you're reading this already)

r_customaspect x

0 means 4:3, 1 means 16:9, 2 means 16:10 ratio.

If I don't use the cvars mentioned by Xernicus, and I try to use the ET options-system-video to set resolutions, I will get some strange effects with some settings, too.

The odd thing is that if I immediately try to set that same resolution that had "fubared", it may work ok the second time!  Sometimes just two "/vid_restart"s works.  That is, if I accept the new resolution and then /vid_restart, the screen may become ok.  The ones that seem so large that only 1/2 the ET view shows may shrink to fit the screen and the ones undersized like yours may expand to fill the screen.

BTW, I have had my configs seem to change for no good reason.  I can't blame PB for that anymore.   :(

I already told him yesterday on server to use these cvars to fix his issue just in case.. But like I told you Rev yesterday, it's more related to your AMD settings imho.

Try this:

-right-click on your desktop and in the menu displayed, access the AMD panel
-once there, go in "My digital flat panel"
-scaling options
-move the slider in the "Scaling Options" or use the first option "Properties" in the "My digital flat panel" to find the proper setting.
