Heretic121 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 So, May this year my domain ran out. Since then events seem to have conspired against me repurchasing it. Now, 2/3 months on, I've finally been able to. Take a look and let me know what you think: http://urlcheck.me 3 Quote

Heretic121 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 No! You leave my precious domain alone! I forgot to say; the website was created as a means to see what lies at the end of the rabbit hole of short URLs lol Quote
speedfact Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) hmmm it seems to think porn.com is a bad site... btw looovveee how it shows most recent searches. hehehe Edited August 6, 2014 by speedfact Quote
Heretic121 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 hmmm it seems to think porn.com is a bad site... That's one of the other features. A simple "word filter" of sorts. Checks how many "bad words" are in a website and flags it as a potentially NSFW website. There's also some "bad domains", only about 3 of those. Quote
PiNoY Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Nice. I recommend using captcha/re-captcha too if the site is going to be publicly available to fight against aliens (non-humans) And oh, there was a domain that I had been using before, wherein it allows you to enter a domain/website URL. After that, it shows the domain/website with stripped down components like javascript/java/css (user-choice options) and stops any redirection if any. This is being done anonymously at the same time. So, if the URL malicious, it was being stopped by that too. Then the anonymous browsers was born, probably this cause death to that URL checker. Quote
Midnight Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Haha this is great! My non-profit I work for I potentially a scam because it is some sort of promotion. Good thing idgaf. But then again it says the same for google. Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted August 6, 2014 Administrators Posted August 6, 2014 For google.com it shows me this: WARNING: This link appears to be some sort of promotion, however it is possibly a scam. Please use caution and make sure that it is a trusted source. 1 Quote

Yep, there's some code in there to automatically detect potential scam pages. It is, however, a little off With having the domain back I will be continuing my development on it, including but not limited to fixing up the scam detection lol, however I am struggling a little with finding new features to add to it EDIT: Really 4 emoticon limit? Ouch xD Edited August 6, 2014 by Heretic121 Quote

Ouch xD There has always been a 4-emoticon limit. You living under a rock? I think you should make it so that we don't have to enter the www. Because if you enter "google.com" it doesn't give you the result it does of "www.google.com" Edited August 6, 2014 by Incubus Quote
Heretic121 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 There has always been a 4-emoticon limit. You living under a rock? Seriously, that was the only thing you commented on? xD I'd also like to point out that it's a source of pride that I've never reached that limit before now Quote

That's like creamsicle. So I tried "www.facebook.com" in the hot pink color and it gave me this description: "Facebook er et sosialt verktøy som hjelper folk med å holde kontakten med venner og andre som jobber, studerer og lever rundt dem. De bruker Facebook til..." Your German is superb, but not mine. Is it German? I thought maybe the color change did it, so I switched back to the default blue, and it still reads the same. Also noticed that there is a ellipsis after the description. Is there no way to expand this? On stories that are longer then the image or text (like Yahoo and Facebook) they have an "expand" link. In addition to this, I noticed that several site descriptions provide and ellipsis while there are those that don't. Is this something from client side or the site being searched. Stop editing it your posts then lol That's orange on screen o.O Maybe you've got the brightness up on your screen xD The problem is that most popular websites, like Facebook, give you the website in the language you use based on your IP and the server the website runs on is based in Norway. So it's displaying the description in Norwegian Same happens when you search for google, it gets automatically redirected to their google.no domain The description is limited to ... 100 characters iirc, or 150, however I could probably add some javascript in there and make it display the full description when you click on a "show all" type "link" 1 Quote
Heretic121 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 I've found out why it's marking your non-profit website as a potential scam. In the source for the website there's mention of gifts. For some reason, the code isn't marking it per occurence but as a whole. So one mention of it marks it as a potential scam lol. It'll be fixed in a minute, just need to recode it to work the same as with NSFW websites xD 1 Quote
