Conclusions and implications to the server status:

Generally, we got up to 20-25 players during week. The issue with low popularity on server exists, no doubt. Usually, players disconnect when the map is over, nothing new.  To extend players' being on server we should focus on changing rotation to maps which last longer than 15 minutes. What I mean by saying that? It's from the observations. When we got map loaded on server which normally lasts 30 minutes ( i.e. goldrush ), players don't disconnect during that time, they play until the map is over and then they may disconnect. While, we have map  like supplydepot (15 minutes lasts) after the 15 minutes of play, we lose again players. I try to give an example in slightly different way.

Sample map rotation:

Amount of players when the goldrush was loaded 14.

Goldrush ( teams with bots on, at the end of map - 30 minutes, the amount of players reaches 22; 4 of them disconnect, final amount 18)

Venice ( 18 players on, at the end of map - 30 minutes, 26 players on server, 5 disconnects, final amount 21 players)

Fueldump (21 players on start, at the end of map 30 players on server, 4 disconnected, 26 players is a final result for next map)

Supplydepot (26 on the start, maps lasts 15 minutes, at the end 30 players on server, 5 disconnect, 25 for next map)

Frostbite ( 25 on server, 3 connect, 28 at the end of map, 5 disconnect, 23 for next map)

 

The sample rotation provided is very optimistic and general. But, the issue is with short-lasting maps. The more brakes for players, the lesser they play. A very few disconnect during map, usually everyone leaves after the map. So now, in short, implications.

-More maps which last longer (or at least) 30 minutes: fueldump, mlb_temple, goldrush, etc. ...)

- Rotation order (if we still have short-lasting maps, these maps should be between those which last longer like temple, example: 1. goldrush, 2. adlernest, 3. venice)

-I still insist that free slots ain't help us at all. Reducing slots to 40 won't harm.

-voice chat ( I optimized wav files on that soundpack made by me, and trust me, we don't need for the time being 15 mb - size voice chat, that 3-4 mb is enough for now, let's finally put it)

- map vote system ( that would be worth to check on jay2, people want to play some other maps which were not loaded by server due to not enough amount of players)

 - there are key maps which are short and cannot be removed  from rotation ( that everyone loves to play like: supplydepot, adlernest, special delivery and a few other ones)

Like on this proposed rotation,  maps from 6-15 are rather good ones and loved by players, 6-10 are shorter ones but, maps 10 - 15  there are all long lasting maps, which means it should be a lot of players for the map 15. 

 

This is still open-discussion. I hope we can bring it to life.

Quick question are those numbers behind the map names the minimum and maximum amount of players on the server for the map to run?

For instance, mml_minastirith_fp3, 32, 60, Server will load this map when minimum players on server equals to 32 and maximum players is 60. It won't load this map when there is, for instance, 30 players or 63 players.

Big thank you for updating Jay2 DD, I liked that we can see killer hp now and i like new map rotation a lot, Thank You :) Usually i sent donation after every update of Jay2 server lets see if i can send some dollars now too :) Im soo happy that we can see Venice more :)

U sound pack contains 128 bit sounds... u can make the size to half by converting to 64kbps for the ones which don't have music or even for musics..  :)

Example attached: 8000hz mono is from current sound pack... 

 

Your's are all on 16000hz ... Also cut the white sound which normally is present in most of the sounds... See example SS.

I checked more of it and many also contains 256kb sound.

 

Update: By just cutting down white noise I was able to reduce many sound sizes by 40-50% and if we convert to 64kbps we can save up more.

 

96kb file size reduced to 25kb :) U can pack 3 sounds in the size of one size. Let me know if you need help. 

 

Let's create new sound pack for jay2 and jay3 and I would also like to add new skins.

 

Update 3: I went to your full sound pack. No songs. New RC3 would be change of removing vsays with "dicks" in it and more songs on it...

Gotcha I was just basing on this Tutorial which mainly says:

" For the vsays to work all files must be at 16000Hz sampling rate (Process->Resample), 8 bit depth (Process->Bit depth converter) and they must be mono (Process->Convert to mono->Mix all channels). If you have a stereo .wav just merge the tracks to get a mono one, as described in the previous sentence."

 

What program are you using to edit files?

 

Edit 1: let's deal with this first. No songs right, umm.. let me tell you why. Songs are quite long, putting it makes it just spamming and doubling sounds (unless they would be good to hear), if this sound pack would be packed with akward songs, it's ain't gonna help. Personally, I turned off the previous soundpack on jay2 by /cg_novoicechats 1, cause it wasn't listenable at all.  These sounds are just like music for ears, no crappy dicks, no weird tag lines, just good catchy phrases.
