So the other night, I am sitting as my desk playing Titanfall, as I have been doing for quite sometime.  I am not sure of the time, though I am sure it was pretty late at night. Anyway, every once in a while between rounds, I will I will smoke a cigarette, though I am actively trying to quit.  Well at some point I had smoked, but had extinguished my cigarette in an ashtray.  A few moments later while playing titanfall again, I started to smell something. At first I just tried not to think about it, or mostly thought maybe the cigarette hadn't gone completely out.

By the end of the round though, it was pretty strong, I could smell something burning for sure.  I checked the ashtray for smoke, and checked the cigarette, to see if it had in fact gone out, and it had.  Thinking something in my house may be on fire, I got up from my chair and went to investigate.  After searching every room of the house, and noticing the further I got away from my desk, the less I could smell the smell of smoke, I decided to return back to my desk..

As I entered the room, there was quite a bit of smoke, and I actually saw a couple small flames under my desk, which totally was shocking lol.

So here is what happened.  I have a big cushy pillow that is at the feet of my desk, that I like to rest my feet on (Laugh all you want, try it and you will love it), and apparently at some point, ashes from the cigarette had fallen onto this pillow, and though it didn't immediately catch fire, it smoldered long enough that once I took my feet from the pillow, and gave it enough oxygen to breathe, as I was checking the rest of the house, it became a flame.

I put the fire out, though I was unable to save the pillow for future use, opened the windows and aired the house out, and though it doesn't seem so, I actually avoided a really bad house fire that night.  Though after it was all over all I could do was laugh, considering things get so weird and unusual in my life, this was right on par with everything else.

Is there a moral to this story? Well I could say don't use a pillow at your desk if you are going to smoke, but it feels to good.. So yeah, no real moral haha..

Something similar happened to me once, was having a smoke at my desk, and (thought) I had put it out in my ash tray, and shut that drawer to my desk.

Sure enough, give it a few minutes, and I begin to smell something. I'm thinking it's just stale half-smoked cigarette, so I let it go for even longer, maybe half an hour or so, but then I see smoke wafting through the cracks of the drawer. I open it up, and a big cloud of blue and yellow tinted smoke billows out, but I don't see barely anything in my ashtray... it burned itself out... literally. Was pissed about it at the time, but I also had a good laugh, knowing somewhere, someone had to be filming me for a TV drama at the moment. xD
