The group certainly has a definitive style that separates it from most "metal" groups I've heard. I'm not sure what makes them "pop" music, though. At least in America, pop music implies a mediocre and uninventive style. 

well i would beg to differ. pop didn´t start out like that. it might have become that in most cases nowadays but in the beginning it had that imagination and inventuity to it where the groups still wrote their own text and music.

Rammstein rather has this calculated scandalism to it. and , at least in germany, back in the good old days they played some of their songs up and down the radio, which espaciallly in germany is normally a sign for popmusic as all the comercial radiostations play the same 30 songs all day.

I suppose it's just a matter of culture. "pop" has a very specific meaning in the states, and it makes sense that different countries have different definitions.
