Every release of Windows since 2001, and Mac OS since 2002 (at least) can read .ZIP files natively. Linux cannot, but distributions often come with a "File Extractor" or 'Compressor Tool".if you can't open the files even with 3rd party programs installed, I'm going to say you have severe registry issues regarding filetypes (with Windows anyways). I had to deal with that several years ago (like 8 years ago )- and I'll see about digging up the fix I found. Now the problem I dealt with was executable files-- a much more severe problem than not being able to open ZIP files, but even small issues like that can be signs of malware, scareware, or operating system corruption.
