dedmancallin Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Hey All, At the risk of sounding dumb, I am going to ask a question anyway. I was recently granted a trail membership but was wondering about some ways to start helping out and giving back to the "community". It occurred to me that I am always on line playing COD and using the server so in essence, always taking and not giving back. Since I am new I wanted to throw out the question as to what is the best way to start getting involved in a more significant way. Apologies if this is a silly question but your input is appreciated. Thanks - Dedmancallin 1 Quote
Owned Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 asking questions is never stupid! now as an answer to your question: its really simple, if there is an argument on the server make sure it doesnt go too far and that people keep it nice and clean. also if there is a hacker on a server, record him, get his info, and post it on the forums and notify an admin with powers to ban him, to clean the server. just some examples Owned?! Dak Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 make a donation if you can... this helps relieve the financial burden on the leaders that give so much of their time and money to keep the F|Amily together. 3 Quote
Gorilla Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Read the wiki. Has some really useful stuff. Most of what admins do is pretty common sense, even teams, water down arguments etc etc. Quote

The_Dom Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Donations are a huge part, if you can contribute. But part of the trial membership is to learn. So asking questions is never a bad option. But like others said, read the wiki and learn the rules. If you have questions, never hesitate to ask. Use Teamspeak too, there is almost always an experienced admin on there to contact. Quote
Angry Mosquito - Alex Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Hey, I agree with everyone here. One thing that can also really help is recruiting. Bringing someone or more in is also very very welcome =) Quote
Dddrgn Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Just be sure to post on the forums often, use teamspeak if you can and talk with the other people. Invite people to join the clan, and donate if you are able. The biggest thing is to continue to keep our servers clean, that's our job as clan members, make sure people are following the rules and that other members aren't abusing their powers. Quote
kapone Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 No such thing as a dumb question. All of the above suggestions are great ways to start giving back to the F|A community. When I first started out, I would keep an eye out on the servers and just make sure everyone is following the rules (hacking, team balances, etc.). Try to get to know some of the other admins. Feel free to add me on xfire as well (kapone10) if you need any help on a server. Also being respectful of our members goes a long way and shows maturity amongst the community. 1 Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted October 21, 2013 Leader Posted October 21, 2013 At the risk of sounding dumb, I am going to ask a question anyway. I would reply that your "dumb question" has already provided the Clan with a service, as it has made the so-far 74 readers of this thread think about the question. The replies you received, with the time and effort involved, show that others of us consider it a good question. The answers your question generated also gave the rest of us thinking fodder. Thanks for your Important 'Dumb' Question. 3 Quote

Heretic121 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Donations and Recruiting are the main ways to help, but it's also the little things like always keeping an eye out for cheaters, talking to everyone on the server because then you'll end up with regulars who have your back if someone tries bad-mouthing you That sort of thing. I would have made this longer, but I've got to go EDIT: Oh, and as everyone has already said, there are no "dumb" questions here Edited October 27, 2013 by Heretic121 Quote
