Ol Smoke Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Got to make this one quick since the government is scheduled to shut down any minu 4 Quote
Chameleon Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 It's just more proof that our government is full of crooks, and people who are out there for their own interest and not ours.. If they cared anything about the people they are supposed to be serving, we wouldn't even be in this situation.. At this very moment, though I am proud to be who I am and where I am from, I am ashamed and embarrassed by out government and the way they are conducting themselves.. 1 Quote
Ol Smoke Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 What people don't realize is that if the government didn't shut down this time, we would have had to increase deficit spending levels again. One day very soon, it won't matter, the whole pile of cards this government built itself on is crumbling down. Thomas Jefferson was right. Never allow a government the right to fund itself from debit spending. It will only buy more useless government until it has spent all the money in all the coffers, and then borrow on that debt again, to start the cycle over. He was right, and that was 250 years ago. 1 Quote
Ol Smoke Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Why are they ... "shutting down"? Because they don't have enough money to pay all the bills they created by expanding government beyond it's allotted expenditure account. Quote
Chameleon Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Because they don't have enough money to pay all the bills they created by expanding government beyond it's allotted expenditure account. This is what I am talking about, if they cared more about the people and less about lining their own pockets.. Their greedy eyes get us in these situations.. We can name it whatever we want, but we all know how we got here.. I agree with ya smoke.. Quote
Ol Smoke Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I have to say this because very few people care about what is going on here. When the government first had to shutdown because of the default in the treasury, there were no laws to go by for them to make a decision on how the government would shut down. So when they wrote the ordering list of what would not be paid, the first on the list was police, schools, firemen, military, social security, flight directors at airports, national parks, and others. That was a big mistake. It made all the people of the USA really pissed off, because we knew it was just Obama spanking us for not letting him get his way with the budget. Now on the list of those that would not be affected by the shutdown, the very first names on the list are now: 1. Congress and all ancillary staff 2. Senate and staffing 3. Whitehouse staff including the President and the Vice-President. 4. FBI 5. NSA 6. CIA 7. Active Military personnel and so on. This is like when a union orders a strike. The union members on strike receive strike pay which is about $16 a day. But the union officials who ordered the strike get full pay and are not affected by the strike. See? If we could re-write the rules and make it that the first to not get paid are the top officials in our government, this crap wouldn't be happening. Quote
Ken Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 If they need more money why don't they raise more taxes......Oh wait it's the Americans. Quote
Antichrist Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 There are a lot of great countries in the world. The USA is one of them. Unfortunately our government is among the worst...... I love my country. I just hate the government. They're all scumbags. 3 Quote
Ol Smoke Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 If they need more money why don't they raise more taxes......Oh wait it's the Americans. Wouldn't have to raise taxes if we didn't send $500 billion every year to other countries living off the back of the American worker. Right now it would take a tax rate of 42% to pay for all the government we run today. So if you made $2000 a month before taxes, $840 of your hard earned money would go to the government. So if you think that would be okay, then join up. Oh wait, that's like England. 1 Quote

This is why Canada is stoping this. Sure we don't give as much but why are we giving any? My taxes should help my country. If I want to help another one I will give a donation, and collect my charity receipt, and file it on my taxes. 4 Quote

What about the 700 billions yearly military budget? Of course it's important to 'democratize' countries on the other side of the world...but just sayin 1 Quote
Dddrgn Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I thought the shutdown centered on obamacare, and neither the republicans nor the democrats budging? There was something about them trying to delay obamacare, right? Quote
