Chameleon Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Keep in mind the topic says favorite, not who you think is the best.. Because my favorite guitarist and who I think is the best is two separate people hehe I love to listen to Ty Tabor from King's X more than anyone.. And yeah this guy! Hahaha this is my nephew Tabor playing to a track in hit apartment And yeah he was named after the guitarist above lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf2Xm-GyPgc Quote
Narbisaur Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Kurt Rosenwinkel And @ OP - I love RATM. <3 Quote
Ol Smoke Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 The one that I love to listen to the most is Vince Gill. Just the smoothness at which he plays and the variety of runs he can do in a single concert are unbelievable. There are a lot of guys out there that can do blazing leads but they basically scale their runs all the time and repeat riffs. For instance Eddie Van Halen is that way. BB King is a renowned blues player but he is actually boring to listen to for an hour. Now if we were looking for a lead player that you can listen to for hours and hours, then for me it is Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynrd. His melodic overtones and use of the minor scale rotation thru a major run is perfect. Then add in the minor 3rd part of Skynrd's other guitarist Rickey Medlocke, and you have pure heaven on earth. As Phoenix and I have talked about this stuff previously, we both like certain guitarists for their styles. But we both agree that the best slide player in the world is _________________________. You first Phoenix. 1 Quote

Ol Smoke Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 There was a Spanish guitarist back in the 1970's who could play a guitar with such skill that it would sound like he was playing two different riffs at the same time. I cannot remember his name. He was on Glen Campbell's show one time. He could actually play with both hands on the fret board at the same time. Awesome ! 1 Quote
Ol Smoke Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 You know I do have to say something on here about a member of ours. Phoenix. I have heard some of the music his brother does and I have to admit...he is pretty damn good. I love the slide work. Phoenix himself is....meh. 1 Quote

Derek Trucks.. Yeah I know I could pick Blind Willie Johnson, or Johnny Winters or one of those guys, but it seems to cliche anymore hehehe..
