I think my aim is better when I have no sound at all (i.e. not even weapon sounds, etc.) in fact I played sometimes with +attack +s_volume 0 binded to mouse1 (and on release I hear sounds again) ^^ so everyone has different preferences.

Well it is a bit of a trick question in my opinion. They are very good if your ping is low or if you are playing etpro. In general what you hear and how you can react to it is, and I cannot over stress this, extremely important. The main reason why I use hitsounds on pubs is because I play on four different servers, they all have different settings, for instance, silent, fa2 and 3. It means once you switch server after playing 10 maps on silent your timing is off on jay1. Hitsounds makes me adjusting to the new settings faster. Of course if you have average 200 ping, as I do, you have to take it in consideration.

I think its nice, some days I wake up with pretty bad aim, and knowing when I hit a headshot is great to make little adjustments!

I think the hit sounds are useful. Although I think it would be interesting to try out hit markers like in call of duty, not because its call of duty, because I'd be cool to try out other different ways on knowing that you hit your enemy
