So Apparently there is this rule *Not listed in the =FA= rules that I could see* that you can't "XP Whore" whatever that may be, But it is not afking I know that much. I say this because I am a little displeased with how my friend and I were sent to spec when we were accused of this "XP whoring" business. We were sitting in spawn talking in Raidcall, dropping ammo/health packs while we conversed and kinda waited for enemies to walk in *the map was over in less then 10 anyways*, this went on for about 3 mins till we got sent to spec by Roadkill. Alacrity had just joined my side as a matter of fact, so 3 mins might be over exaggerated. Don't get me wrong, I just got sent spec, its not like we got kicked/banned or anything, but seriously.. I see afkers all the time, doing nothing. We were there, responding to chat, jumping/moving around, playing the map how WE wanted to play it at the time, regardless if its in are own spawn or not. I just think its wrong to move us just because were not "Playing up to your standards" Am I wrong? I might just be the A'hole here but hey, That's just my opinion.

It depends on the circumstance. XPWhoring IS allowed. However, someone standing in the spawn circle jerking with their buddy to get the XP up is not helping your team and frowned upon.

Admins consider you a non-active player (afk) when your XP whoring

XP whoring is playing as a only throwing- Medic (medical packs) or Field Op (ammo packs) in one spot not moving.

XP whoring is sitting in spawn throwing packs, when you have no charge left you dont leave into go to battle, you just wait and throw more packs trying to (rank up certain class)

Hope this helps, a F|A admin will confirm if it is frowned upon or against F|A rules!

Well them are the circumstances that I posted, we were there for no more then 3 mins. Roadkill had just joined the server about the same time Alacrity did so there this was within a small time frame. And were dropping packs, at least! So its not like were not being useless to the team. I cant help but feel it was just a show of admin power of some sort. Not so much conspired against, I really dont know the reason. its not like Roadrash was playing and constantly seen us in spawn, he stuck around for 2 mins /vsayed move a couple times and removed us.

Who said and where to, boss? I'm playing the game, gaining SOME xp *not a lot imo* and it wasn't even for a full 5 mins.. gimme a break.

Hello,

Decided to hop on the severer for more wolf fun, however only to be put to spawn for inaccurate reasons. Well said Rumble, also yes, very bogus to be moved to spec whilst playing on F|A servers during game play after being accused of AFK even after I responded I wasn't and clearly moving around spawn dropping ammo that was well needed for our teammates. It's not often you see LT's dropping ammo when 'V22'ed' unless you consider ammo/health banks efficient enough even thou they can't bring you supplies, you must go to them. Wasn't very happy about this, been on F|A servers without an issue or a need to complain about anything. Really enjoy F|A members and their services however with poor handling of server permissions like this is very unprofessional, something I don't see F|A doing often, and i'm sure are strongly against. They do a good job of removing AFK's and dealing with issues anyone may have once brought to attention of a member. This is one in which I would agree to touch face on so we could prevent such instant justification in the future without consent from another person to prevent others thinking they aren't being singled out. This doesn't just pertain to this case either, however, it defiantly was the icing on the cake to post about it. Anyways, have a great day F|A thanks for the awesome fun & servers, sorry one of my first posts had to be a minor dilemma. Cheers!

Sincerely,

Alacrity

Don't sit in spawn throwing out health/ammo...that's just lame..

I have done it once and a while, big deal. No different if you were soldier w/ a mortar sitting in spawn holding down "fire" in one spot getting fed ammo.

XP Whoring is in fact not against the rules as far as the Wiki is concerned (http://fearless-assassins.com/wiki/index.php/W:ET_Server_Rules#F.7CA_RECRUITING_XPS)

I'm 100% with Rumble and Alacrity, yes they were in the spawn gaining xp but they did nothing more than just throw med/ammo packs.

They also were doing it for just about three minutes so it wasn't such a big deal and I occasionally do that as well when I'm eating or busy.

And I know Rumble enough to know that if an admin told him to stop he *would* stop but I believe all there was was a Vsay that said move, but I'm not sure. I have nothing against roadkill but this wasn't handled in a manner that I would approve of, then again I'm just a trial.

As for a side note, yes I could have said all this on the server but that wouldn't look good to the regulars and to me would it?

People might say something like "haha get over it he just put you spec no big deal" but it's about how they thought an admin felt - like he had a control over them.

-Just my two cents, slender

XP Whoring

  • It's allowed. Make sure you are not blocking the way of your team.
  • Exception: If you will go in one corner with flamer and ammo to increase your SL rating you will be banned. Be a man and play fair to get your rating. I personally don't care for rating but I have seen many young kids take SL as their only motive to play ET.

From our admin guide. It can be lame, shitty, low, etc it remains allowed, excepted in the situations described in the quote I posted. Case closed :)

Like I see sometimes on Jay3.. Someone who waits and uses flames or knives poisoned in the supply ammunitions and healths the whole map.. Really smart and helpfull for your team.. This is just :noob...

Ok, so Alacrity and I were NOT in wrong.. Proving I'm right *even though I already knew I was*, but I didn't post this to be right or state the obvious *Maybe should have titled a little better*. This post more about admins treating other players how they feel because they have power. Not sayings it happens often, but it happened to me and I *as you can tell* got pretty heated over the matter. Especially when just shrugged off when questioning Roadkill just why he moved me after responding with "you were Xp whoring" after that I got no other responce from him concerning the matter.

It seems Roadkill thought that XP whoring was against the rules. If that was the case then you can't blame him for doing what he should have in that situation if XP whoring was indeed against the rules. If he did know it was allowed then he was obviously in the wrong. I'm not saying you were intentionally XP whoring or that you were at all, i know you follow the rules, just looking at it from an admins perspective.

Admins have a lot of players to watch over which can be very frustrating. You get many new players that don't know the rules and also the ones who are trying to get away with what they can or just being trolls looking for a reaction. Instead of giving a warning and trying to get the attention of a player that might not be paying any attention to chat, or one that's ignoring him/her on purpose, using a command like !putspec can be very effective. For one it's in no way harmful or should be taken as a personal attack, and 2, it does a great job of getting the targets attention. :)

Rather he did it enforce a clan rule or his own, a simple polite PM can usually solve the case and get player and admin on the same page.

Sometimes I have been put to spec because I was changing my config, so apparently I wasn't moving or playing, I just joined again, maybe in the other team. But I didn't think the admin in question was 'showing admin powers'. Since that's not what I think when I use admin commands myself, I don't think the same of others.

You know how many times I'd like to just play instead of muting people around, etc. and maybe being insulted by players, because I tell them to respect the rules? Being admin is not fun or 'a show of power', it's something you do to keep the game playable for everyone.

What I don't understand is how being put to spec when you were actually not playing (you say you guys were conversing) could be such a big offense, unless you were actually 'xp whoring' :P

When fieldops give ammo at spawn, I mostly consider them as 'blockers', since I don't need ammo and I can pick enemy weapons or selfkill. And many players don't even survive long enough to use all their ammo clips.
