Krayzie
Like the title says, been shopping around pricing out parts to build my first PC. Not really going for the overclocking, YET. Revenant
Have you checked out www.newegg.com? That is where I have made all of my computer build purchases. If you like, shoot me a list of what you're looking at, and I can tell you if it will all come together nicely, or if you need more items. parrot
corsair 750hx: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139010 Asrock Extreme http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157289 together around 370 bucks, might be cheaper at amazon, dunno. the network card is usually onboard btw, as it is in this case. could save around 50 bucks with this power supply: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817151095 and it looks solid. case Antec 300 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811129042 Not flashy, but gets the job done. Around 50 bucks. Pretty sure that mobo won't support the Intel i5 3570K which is socket LGA 1155 if I remember correct. + that mobo is way too expensive . Why would you spend 230 dollars on a mobo. Revenant
Here's what I've come up with - 620W power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095 Antec Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 ASRock Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157304 EVGA Vid Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130809 Blu Ray player http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136246 Intel Core i5 CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115233 16 GB Ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233310 128GB SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147163a

The none K version got their multiplier locked. -why the hell a bluray player, if you really want a blurau go for an external one. Yes they are more expensive (referring to usb 3 ones now ), but can be used on multiple pc (I totally left the idea of internal dvd/blu rays) -Those windtunnel design videocards tend to cool less than other designs, so I would look for another 660ti (personal I like the gainward 660ti phantom, but well that's me XD) Yes, I know that evga got awesome aftersales, but they don't support lifetime warranty for the 660ti (all are KR suffix so 3 year warranty : http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/ => correct me if I'm wrong that how I understood it). Leader RedBaird Posted September 8, 2012 Leader Share Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Make sure that the cutout in the case's mobo backplane matches up with the motherboard's CPU location. I didn't do that and ended up having to cut the backplane hole larger and I'm still afraid that some errant metal splinter will short something, someday. *** CORRECTION *** Should have said "motherboard tray". Will have pics to illustrate later. Edited September 9, 2012 by RedBaird
rolf
^^ I've never attached the CPU cooler by the mobo backplane. Attach it upfront, then hang the entire stuff inside the case. Anyway, the setup is nicely balanced. You choose good quality products. If you only use it for gaming, a slightly less CPU would do the trick but since the i5 is a monster CPU for price/quality I wouldn't trade it. The only suggestions I'd make is to choose a 256GB SSD, then you can install (pretty much) all your games on it (I guess). Furthermore, the Seasonic is a nice PSU which is know to be silent, yet your other parts are not that silent (GPU for example), and that gives my a bit of a question why you'd choose the Seasonic. Only price? Third, have you thought about cooling the setup? Not all fans in the case are necessary, but you need to focus on cooling your GPU. CPU can take care for itself, and I suggest to have at least some airflow passing the HDD, but having two case fans usually already cause that luckily It might be that you need more fans, but that's easy to upgrade later yourself if you find that necessary. s d But I have to say, nice setup

From what I've read online, game do not really benefit that much from being installed on an SSD. The only real gain comes from having an operating system installed. Just saying, because I have a 128GB SSD and that works perfectly. http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2166098 http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960869-/60395953 http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=645167 The only difference I see is in the load times of the games, but not actual benefit of gaming. So if you can save money from the 256GB SSD and get a better graphics card, that is probably a better way to go. At least from a gaming point of view. Cooler Master V6 GT: http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER I have that CPU cooler as well. I love it, it looks awesome, and really is not that loud. You will hear it once in a while when the CPU is being used in quick bursts. But I ran a CPU stress test the other day, at 100% usage the temperature only went up to about 43 C (not overclocked ofc). ajnl
Seasonic 620 Bronze: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096 Oh one last thing. I would invest in a different power supple. At least 700W or 800W. Here is a PSU watts needed calculator: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp At the moment this one does not have the option to choose the GTX 660 ti. So I just put in a GTX 560 Ti and the W needed was between 580 and 630. You can check it out yourself too. ====EDIT===== sorry for the double post! parrot
oops. I thought it was the 3930k...my bad. Forget the motherboard. Try http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157265 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131790 I have the Asus board which might be too pricey for your taste, but the Asrock looks pretty good too and it's only 140 bucks. As for the PS, I run a 6950 gfx card, an overclocked 2500k, 3 hard drives, and a 27 inch monitor. While maxing everything out with F@Home my APC says I'm only using like 350 watts. I think the seasonic ps would be fine.

I will probably install a few more fans on it, but just trying to get the core items right now. Yes, I chose the PSU for price. I was looking at the Corsair 750, but was told it was kind of overkill for what I have, so I just went back down to the 620 Seasonic. The GPU has the two fans on itself to kind of cool it, and for the HDD/SDD the case I'm looking at has to fans in front of it. Yeah, I've never heard of that either lol. chose* Are you sure that buying a 256GB SSD is really worth it? ajnl
The reviews I was reading on this PSU people where running similiar setups on it with no problem, so thats why I made this choice. That may work out, but if you want to SLI later on, you will need one with more W. Also, having more W then needed is never a bad thing. Anyways, good luck with your build
Waster
I like your first build if anything I would upgrade the power supply (at least to 700W for expansion) and if it was me I'd go for the win 7 pro 64bit only 40 bucks more.
