I'm in the middle of building my "dream" AR which I sold my other one to pay for and to my dismay I receive a complete upper (AR's are basically 2 main pieces - upper and a lower) and it has 3 small blemishes on it! I'll post more pics when I receive it back from the company. I'm still waiting for some parts anyways so whatever. They were atleast willing to let me RMA it for cosmetic reasons and they paid for UPS both ways. :thumbsup

o.O you ordered your parts from a place in apk?

I don't understand what apk is?

Ajnl, yes they are. Ammo is not TOO outrageously expensive either. 27 Cents a round isnt cheap but its not as bad as .308 which costs atleast twice that. Bigger rounds are more than that too. But I have a .22LR bolt kit where I can shoot 4 cent ammo =)

An AR that has a .50 Beowulf upper would be amazing. Below shows the size difference between the normal AR15 .223 (5.56) vs the .50 Beowulf. Cabellas has that ammo listed at $1.50 per bullet.

Do you like your sig? Lots of people love them. I've never held one.

My Sig is like an apple for other people, its a really nice gun just something i "needed" to have.

As far as shooting you get the same results from a Glock or CZ.

I'd like a Sig 1911 but I'd probably go with a kimber as my first.

Here are some pictures of the build process:

All of the parts laid out except the Spikes Tactical lower receiver which I assembled. The annoying stuff are all the springs and pins in the baggies.

Nothing but the finest gunsmithing tools LoL (yeah right). I wish I had a garage with table with a clamp setup. Assembly would have been alot easier. The lower receiver is all lubed up to prevent scratching and help with assembly.

Here is with the lower assembled with all everything except the trigger assembly. I cut the hammers little hook off the backside (Left side of the hammer) to reduce the amount of weight it has so it will hit the firing pin with more speed. They recommend either doing this mod or buying a speed hammer if you intend on running light weight trigger springs. I'm using JP's spring kit with 3.5lb trigger pull springs. I also polished the hammer, trigger, and sear with a dremel and polish compound to reduce the trigger pull and make it smoother. I also did the "10 minute AR trigger job" if you google it. It makes a world of difference removing the takeup before the trigger engages.

Here is what it actually looks like with proper lighting. Damn flash and shitty lighting make for a noob picture ;)

All in all it was not hard to assemble the lower. It took about 2 hours and I had to borrow my GF's hands since I did not have a clamp. I bought the upper complete so no assembly required there :)

Currently have S&W 9mm semi-auto & a 12g.

I used to have an AR15. You CAN have a fully auto, but it costs several hundred to convert & a few thousand to register with ATF. An alternative to look at that IS legal and requires no ATF or major modification costs is a bump fire stock. Just do a search on YouTube.

Here's a good bump fire video:

The only issue is that it truly simulates full auto, and even though it's currently ATF approved, once the politicians in washington get around to it, I think this will be illegal as well.

I don't think they will be able to. The reason is that it is a gun stock replacement and not a modification to any part of the firing mechanism.
