Scream Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 An Israeli couple Lior and Vardit Adler name their baby girl "Like" Parents were looking to call their daughter something unique. The moniker is not meant to be a gimmick, and they say that they're not shilling for Facebook. They just like (pun intended) the meaning behind the name. There have been a lot of 'stupid' people lately on facebook. One man offered to name his son "Batman" if he gets 500,000 fans on his facebook page. I saw a guy from Poland who created Facebook Group called "If group gets 100 000 fans, I will name my kid 'Megatron'". Another couple named their child Facebook in honor of the role the social network played in the revolution in Egypt. Granted, naming your child something unusual is not relegated to the realm of social media -- apparently "Brooklyn" is an extremely popular name -- but the name choice certainly is out there. What do you think? Would you "Like" the name Like? source: mashable link to the article: http://mashable.com/2011/05/16/baby-like/ Quote
Post(?)Organic Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 It's things like this that are chipping away at my faith in humanity Quote
Chuckun Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Absolutely ridiculous. Why would you have your child tormented all his childhood/life for your own kicks?! Why not change THEIR OWN name? Quote
NoGooD Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 This is reaffirming my belief that like animals, some people should be given a test when they hit puberty. If you fail, your fixed to prevent your idiocy from spreading. Quote
Seaside Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Why not? People are free to name their babies the way they want to. What is making me losing my faith in humanity is people who keep judging others, they'd rather take a look at themselves before... My name is Marianne, and it's a whole symbolic name in France, it symbolizes Revolutions, wars, democratie and Republic. And I'm proud of wearing that name. I hope the baby named Facebook will become a proud man too, that he will honor his nation as his parents wished he would and that it will be a start of something new for history. Quote

rolf Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Stupid. It might be nice for the parents, but the child 'has to' wear that name for the rest of his/her life, or at least until it's allowed to change it. Choosing a different name is nice, especially if your name is for example Smith, you don't want to be the 80,000th John Smith in the world. But Like/Facebook/Batman/Megatron, WTF. Of the kids of Jamie Oliver, they'll get bullied at the playground. Brooklyn aint that bad actually, however being named because you're conceived there (Beckham)... Quote
