Hey all,

Smurf here, hey I was banned today after I connected and and played for less than a minute. I would really like to resolve this, because I really enjoy the F|A servers. It's a big part of what's keeping WolfET alive.

I have some educated guesses on which why this may have happened.

Well...

My Vista OS recently crashed and I have just got Ubuntu 10.10 on my comp. I got ET on here and I'm running it through an application called Wine (which allows .exe applications to be run) and I was also testing out a .cfg file called Vatu.cfg in attempts to have high fps. The initial PB checks cleared but then I was pb kicked with the error #90004 (which is weird because the initial pb cvar check said ok on everything). I reconnected and then I was apparently admin banned for 90 minutes and now it's perma ban.

Also: It was a fresh download so the PB was un-updated I think.. if that makes a difference

Here's that .cfg I was talking about. *Note: It's slighty modified because the original included etpro specific commands

  Reveal hidden contents

In summary, perhaps it had something to do with that .cfg file and/or the application I'm using to play WolfET. Either way I have switched cfg to the following and I'm willing to follow any other changes to get restored.

- Server Name or IP.

- Name you were using at the time you were banned

- Approximate time / date of ban

- Possible reasons for your ban

And submit your Guid (follow link below)

- The F|A Jaymod server #2

- Smurf

- Erm.. Earlier today I'm (-6:00 GMT) in my morning/afternoon

- I think it was the cfg I was using. Also I'm running WolfET.exe on a linux distro if that does anything

That link didn't work for me, bro.

1. Make EB ticket and please make sure to give all info you can rather then just saying, please unban me.

http://www.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/new_ticket.php?game=et

2. Run this commands from command line:

For Windows Vista / Windows 7

1. Click Start

2. Click Run

3. Enter cmd.exe in the textbox and click OK

4. Then type below commands.

Commands:

1. wmic process get description,executablepath > process_all_path.txt

2. tasklist > process.txt

3. tasklist /m > active_dll.txt

4. tasklist /svc > services.txt

5. tasklist /V > process_ext.txt

6. Type from command line: "dxdiag" (without quotes) and you will see pop up. There will be tab on left bottom corner, save all information. Save it.

7. dir "Path\to\game\folder" /s > game_files.txt

Example: dir "D:\games\wolf 2.6b" /s > game_files.txt

Give all above text files (.txt) to Evenbalance in trouble ticket.

Please keep us informed and let us know if you need anything else. Also, appeal your ban at PBBans and link your EB ticket while appealing.

Good luck. There is nothing wrong in your config, either you used cheat or it's false positive.

Edit: Anh I just noticed you said you are running running through Wine....Forget what I said above. Appeal the ban @PBBans and make EB trouble ticket and explain how you are running the game.

If you are legit you should be able to recreate the whole scenario again. If you can take video of it and post it on youtube. :) That proves your innocence.

You shouldn't use random configs from the net.

Your ban appeal for the guid 7b20d19e49f7165941f3777cfe6d52fa has been approved and your ban lifted.

An unban command has been sent to all PBBans Hub servers. Others will have to be updated by the server admin.

Looks like it's up to the server admin to unban me.

Thanks a GG.

Ohh question. Will it re-ban me with my setup?

Great news dude :)

I would be sure to uninstall & reinstall ET (keep your ETkey file to save your XP etc) to be sure you dont get re-banned because of any violations within your config..

To be honest I don't see reason why you where using Wine because on Linux game runs perfectly well. There IS Linux binaries for game.. so why use Wine?

Edit: Unbanned from F|A 2.

I tried Linux ET first but the installer wouldn't run. I'll re-download it and see what's up.

Got it running and wow. This is the smoothest ET has ever ran on this machine. Go Linux!

Problem, F|A servers don't even come up on the server list from Play Online. And when I attempt to connect it gives me an error message about an Invalid GUID...

How do I resolve this?

*Progress*

When I run the et application as the root user from the terminal it works. It just won't download from the server because of the write protections for the game folder. I have to figure out how to change the folder settings to allow ET to write in it

You will need to take ownership of the ET folders and subfolders. The method of doing so changes from distro to distro, but typically it involves either the command line chown (change owner), or the graphic equivalent (right click, select properties, allow read/write).

Edit: See this tutorial for more information. This pertains to the Ubuntu distribution.
